My wife's 2002 idle speed up this summer after a battery change it seems fine now.
YMMV.
Does the ECU need time to figure things out, or is there something else I am supposed to do after swapping batteries? The engine idled fine before the change...

Dont adjust anything and dont listen to the yahoos on the pointy board. Gabkwong (99 Sport) and I have both had this issue. Just drive it for a week or two and it will go back to idling correctly without making any adjustments.

Takes a bit for the drive readies to go through their checks. Nothing to worry about, it will be fine. There is a write up somewhere on how to get these done quicker, but you need a decent road with NO traffic to accomplish it. And to answer your question, yes it is the ECU doing its thing.
I use to worry about money; but then realized I don't HAVE anything to worry about.
Ok, good deal. Thanks for the replies.

Well, it seems to be all sorted out now. I drove the car for the first time with the new battery this morning and the idle was all over the place. I drove the car to lunch and the idle was still unstable. But, driving the car back to the office after lunch, everything seems to be back to normal. I gues third times a charm...
