A friend of mine lived in Santa Monica for a while and he always got accosted by bums. One night he was walking home from a bar, talking on the phone, and one of them asked him for a cigarette. As soon as my friend reached into his pocket for his cigs, the bum punched him square in the jaw and knocked him down - making off with the cigs and his wallet.

When I lived downtown dallas I had a rather large Boxer / Great Dane mix that was extremely protective. The bums usually crossed the street and got out of the way when I came around walking him, except this one bum that must have been high as a kite walked up saying "f*ck yo dawg, imma keeel yo f*ckin dawg nigga, I hate that f*ckin dawg, man you bring that dawg on my street imma f*kin keel you both mutherf*cka.". The closer he got the more aggressive my dog got, but this guy wasn't fazed one bit. I knew what this dog was capable of and I didn't want an incident so I just started walking away pulling my dog. The cops must have already been alerted to this nut job because they whiped around the corner and bagged his ass right there. Never saw that guy again.

If only he knew what would have happened to him if I had of let go of that leash...
