Thread: Interior lighting options

    Default Interior lighting options

for my NA, I am looking to add some needed light. The light on the passenger side isn't enough. Of course, there is the Moss light kit that installs in the blank off plugs on each side of the console-but $50?? It doesnt look like much and I'm too cheap to want to spend $50 for something that will disappoint. I'd rather be able to light up the footwell area. I'm not really looking for some ricer type bright glowing neon. But maybe some LED set up would be okay. Suggestions, links to soem instructions, pictures?

Get a lighted mirror for around $80 or go to a junk yard and get a lighted mirror from the junk yard from a Chevy SUV. I got my power from the light next to the glovebox and ran it up around the windshield.

I'm in the same boat, I was going to custom wore some LEDs in the visor blanks, but unfortunately somehow my door sensors both broke and the wires have fallen back somewhere in the quarter panels. I've just resolved to use my cell phone flashlight app, I might get around to a permanent solution some day...

If you find a cheap alternative to the Moss kit it might get me interested enough to fix the damn sensors, since everytime it rains water shorts out the wires back there and I get to hear the door buzzer all the way home.

Not that there's anything wrong with that! You've come to the right place!

Yup. There are folks on here who only use text-speak in threads to avoid wear and tear on their keyboards. Cheap is a badge-of-honor here.

I think Paul (can't remember his screen name, but drives the red 94 R with black accents) said that you can pick up LEDs for cheap at truck stops. He rigged some up in his car. It's in a thread somewhere.

Yep. Any truck Chrome shop sells flush mount leds in a lot of variety. I mounted mine at the top of the A pillers wired to the factory light.

    GM lighted mirror.
I have the old Moss one, but have been meaning to pick up a couple when at pick-n-pull.
Make sure its the 3 wire one to run with the door switches.
also they glue to the windshield like the later NA/NB's, so you can drop it a bit to see under those double d's
Really the best option I have found.

That POS Buick Regal I was driving had one of the lighted mirrors. Pretty nice.
