Thread: killing alternators

    Default killing alternators

Odd issue I am working through. i replaced my alternator back in march with an autozone unit. everything's peachy, then after a couple of months it dies. cuss a bit, then swap it out for another, hit july and it dies... cuss a lot more, then swap it out for another... now september and it is not putting out a charge again. i am believing it may not be bad alternators from autozone and I may just have a little bigger issue now. any suggestions where to start? The battery is a few years old and holds a charge well. I am not tripping any fuses. no thumping sound system...

Replace the battery, or at least have it checked. I had a car like that once and even though the battery seemed fine, it was killing alternators. Once it was replaced I never had another issue.
If you're addicted to cold turkey how do you stop?
