Thread: SCCA Solo Event #7 @ Pennington Field - 10/3/2010

Times are still coming down.. (48.242, 46.193, 45.684+1, 44.841). I'm not sure where my time "should be" in a stock NA miata, stock tires (albeit no-name brand). I'm thinking there's another 5 or 6 seconds to be found. The car seems to be running good enough for high 30's, my skillz still have a ways to go!

In novice there were 14 entrys. My stock Miata against a twin turbo supra. Lol. I got 11th. Had I entered E stock, I would have gotten second place out of two entry and therefore a trophy. Hmmmm...
Why do I want to be in novice??

Not exactly. Trophies are awarded to the top 1/3 of the class. If there is only one entrant, they get a trophy. If there are two or three entrants, there is only one trophy awarded. If you look at the results, the header for the Novice class is "'Novice (pax)' - Total Entries: 13 Trophies: 4" and the header for the SSM class is "'Street Modified II' - Total Entries: 2 Trophies: 1".
On the track, I am fearless.
If you were as slow as me, you wouldn't be afraid either.

PAX is the handicapping system used to balance the field between classes of cars running in Novice, Tire, and X classes.

Good to see you guys out there, GregW and marmed. Sorry I didn't have more time to talk. Next time . . .

Todays course rocked! Lots better than anything Jimmy Jan has ever done! Think it is time for the SCCA to pass the torch to the new kid!

All in all a fun day!

So what was up with the computer issue during the second heat that brought the event to a standstill??

I wish I knew. The program went gray and stopped reacting. It was acting like it got into a loop and couldn't get out of it, like it was thinking and didn't know the answer. I had to kill the program and restart it.

Thanks to everyone that made this happen. What a blast! I even took my wife for a run as a passenger and I made my fastest time! Haha

I figured the starter caused the problem. Or maybe left overs from first heat grid nazi.

It is more satisfying to beat the Supra in the Miata.
    M3 is always the answer.

Let someone faster drive your car. Use them to set a benchmark for yourself.

I liked the course. It was more challenging than it appeared during the walk, but had a cool flow to it. Robert is getting pretty good at this design thing.

BTW - I think Kim W needs to be banned from the open class, as she prevented me from having the top Street Touring time of the day! :)

Thanks guys, I had a lot of help with jrj512 helping with the layout, and I would have been lost without Gregs help with the setup.

Here are the updated Tire Class points as of yesterday. Please, everyone keep in mind that this is not the "official" points report and is not an audited version from the Chief of Timing/Scoring, Gary Kramar. This is just a version that I put together so that I could keep up with where I stood and how I needed to do. I am only providing this because people have expressed an interest in being kept up to date on points. Just like I did last year. If anyone would like me to stop updating points, or add updates to different classes please let me know.

The Total Points Column is total points with no dropped events. Green cells mean there are enough races to be eligible for a trophy, also remember that you need 50% of the point total for first place to be eligible for a trophy as well. Red cells mean there are not enough races left in the season to be eligible for a trophy in the class. The Final Points Column lists points with the two lowest scores dropped after 7+ events.

Robert: That was one of the best courses I have had the pleasure of driving. Kudos.

Here is video of my fastest run:
