    Default FS: 255/40-17 Falken RT615K's - $75

    Falken Azenis RT-615K 255/40-17 (set of 4)
I'm about to put new autox tires on the mx5, but there is still life in this set, if someone would like a very affordable set of the new 615K compound to try out. Tread is not quite to the first wear bars. Purchased in May. No patches/plugs, even wear and no rollover wear (very firm sidewall.)

    $75

What new tires are you going to get? I need to order new tires today, but can't decide between Star Specs or the R-S3s. Hot and dry I want the R-S3s, cooler and wet I want the Star Specs.

    Update
I flipped a coin and ordered the Dunlops.

I think I'm going with the RS3's, based on price alone, if not the heat tolerance too. Hopefully I'll win another set of Falkens at the end of the season!

I forgot you'd won that set.

Robert, I've been very happy with my Star Specs, but I think I'll be trying the RS-3s next. The Star Specs might be a little better in cold conditions, but how often do we have that problem? I know I spend a lot more time trying to keep tires from getting greasy from heat than I do worrying about the cold.

Besides, they're $540/set from Tire Rack versus $688/set for the Star Specs.

The RS-3's are 140 treadwear while the Dunlops are 200. I wonder how the RS-3's perform in the cooler weather/surfaces. I know lostlorin is running the RS-3's on his car, but the only 15" size are 225/45's. I wonder if they are too tall for a stock Miata.

Already ordered the Star Specs. Part of my thinking is if I go back to R-comps next year the Star Specs will be a lot better street tire and also better if I have to drive thru rain going home from an event.

I got the 235 Specs and they did real good at Hallett but I wanted the RS3. They didn't have them in 235 width. NC Eunos has the 225 RS3 on an 8" RX-7 wheel and they grip as good as my Specs, maybe better.

I just burnt the last of my Star Specs at Mineral Wells, that is if there was anything left when I got there lol...
They were the 215's on my stock 7" wheels... they gripped good when they had life, but they're dead now
I got a little over 11K miles daily driving them and autocrossing here and there.
Now I'm getting some wider wheels, not sure what tires to put on them next...
