Default Buying a Roll bar tomorrow, Well going to order one...... I need advise

Tomorrow morning I'll be going to TDR to order my Rollbar. I have a zipper-less glass top/frame off a Nb on my Na . I plan on getting the Hardcore Hardtop M2, But I am Undecided if I want a Single or Double Diagonal. What do you guys prefer and why ?

just don't get a harness bar or you will brake the glass. both work styles will save your life.

I've got the double diagonal on my M2 Sport and it does a pretty good job of blocking the view out the back (mainly with the top up). But after a year and half with it, I'm used to it.

EDIT: +1 to Jeff's post... harness bar won't work with the glass window.

I had a M2 Sport in my old '99. No diags with harness tabs. When the top is up, the roll bar is totally 'hidden' and doesn't interfere
with rearview vision. The glass rear windows are small enough as it is.

Thanks for the tip on the harness bar I didn't know that.

The single diagonal bar always looked a bit odd to me.

Not that it matters to the discussion, but I have the double diagonal M1 bar, and I don't even notice it in the rearview mirror. It obviously does block a small portion of it, but I used that "deadspace" for my WBO2 readout, so I notice it even less. It's just a matter of if you're too lazy to move your head an inch to either side to check the small part that gets blocked in the mirror or not.

Having an MSM with the M2HDHC hardtop bar, my single diag. does catch my top and has starting pulling the stitching right at the corner of the glass window. I would go double diag. if I were to do it again. My '97 had a custom M2HDHC hardtop bar with double diag. and had no contact issues with my M2 top. YMMV

I recently added a M2 Sport with double diagonals to my NA. It doesn't bother my rearview vision. CarCar's raccoon accident and going to the track occasionally motivated me to get a rollbar.

How does it make a difference?? I just go over the top...I can't see it being any different with a single diagonal. Am I doing it wrong?

Actually you have the NB2. HDHCHTDD, not the sport.

Tom, I'll be at the shop tomorrow and have cars with both single and double diagonals you can look at. BTW, I wont be there until 9:30-10am and Gary will not be in.

get a Boss Frog Double Max, it'll make putting the soft top up and down easier and it's scca legal.

My '91 has a SD and the '99 has a DD. If anything, I think it's easier to put the top up from inside the car with the SD (but it's not a big difference either way).

I don't get how it's different at all though. You guys start by going through the bar or something? I guess my arms are longer than yours? I just prop myself up a bit and reach over the top of the main hoop of the bar - i.e. I never go "through" the bar. Takes 5 seconds if I haven't done it in awhile; 2 once I get used to it again.

While seated, I reach under the bar with my right arm and pull it up as high as I can until my right arm contacts the top cross bar and then grab it with my left arm and pull it closed the rest of the way.

Ah, never even thought to do that since I'd have to maneuver around the cross bars. ha
