Thread: Run off the road again

Default Run off the road again

So I was on my way to meet a forum member today, took the back way with lots of twists and turns unfortunately I came around the corner only to see a redneck in a big truck in the center (well mostly on my side of the road) anyhow I had to run off the road or hit the guy head on.
The damage I have seen so far are 2 completely trashed rims.
One tire may be toast and there was a grinding sound from the front axle.

    Insurance ded. is 500.00

This is my Birthday gift from the Gods

Sad part is I didnt get to sell the stuff I was going to sell and went in the hole...lol

This is the second time this has happened, I am not taking any more backroads....just freeway driving for me from now on.

Bummer, but it sounds like you made the best of a bad situation.
On the track, I am fearless.
If you were as slow as me, you wouldn't be afraid either.

1 more thing that sux, and come to think of it he same thing happened last time.
The wheels are discontinued so i will likely have to buy a whole new set, or just run with mismatched rims till i can swim out of my little shit storm

I wasn't run off the road to the extent of the OP, but Friday driving home from work was an adventure. Three separate times people deciding they wanted to occupy the space I was already occupying. Nearly sideswiped three times. Reminds me how much I would fear riding a motorcycle in this traffic. If a Miata is that invisible to other drivers, I'd hate to think what a motorcycle would be like. I felt like I must have been riding in Wonder Woman's invisible plane or something.

^That sounds like me two weeks ago on a friday night. Dropped the kid of at the in-laws in Grand Prairie and my wife and I took the Miata to the new mega shoping plaza off 20 in Arlington. I have decided not to drive I20 through south DFW again unless i'm in a large truck or SUV. I felt like I was in a gauntlet dodging cars the entire trip there and back. The only time I have had situations like that was in South Dallas, Grand Prairie or South Arlington, I hate those roads.

Billy that sucks, but having known someone who didn't have time to run off the road I can say looks like you came out of the deal ok. The guy was in a buick and still spent a couple weeks in the hospital.

    ^ouch!

http://wheelsamerica.com/index.php?page=wheelrepair They advertise a flat fee. Couldn't find the rates on the site, but if I remember it was around $125 - $150 per wheel. Cheaper than a whole set...

    Update...

I took the wheels to wheels america, they said if they hadn't called me by 10:00 today then they would be ready today by 10:00
I am going to pick them up on Saturday.
This company does all their stuff in house and turnaround time is 24 hours
They completely strip and refinish the wheel also.
Rounded up the cost of 2 wheels is 313.00

However on the way over there I got a speeding ticket, I am not complaining about the ticket it was weird tho as I was moving with traffic and everyone was speeding just got picked out cause i am lucky this week.

I am staying at home for the rest of the month after i get the wheels...lol

^Damn, man...at some point you just have to see the humor in it. I can imagine the cop approaching the car thinking why this guy is laughing??\

I'm prone to spells of rediculously bad luck myself, so I know how you feel.

FYI I had a cop tell me once that if he sees a pack of speeding cars he will give a ticket to the first one that taps their brakes. He said he considered it to be an admission of guilt.
