Has a price been established yet on the car?

Don't forget you also have a fresh clutch, probably installed by Rogue.

I think Rogue keeps records of all this on microfiche.

Microfiche? I thought all his records were on shop towels.

Why would a car with only 60k need a new clutch so soon? Was it an upgrade? The 1990 I had was still on the original clutch at over 200K miles.
    1990 White NA - SOLD
    1994 Black NA - SOLD
2006 Red NC - GT with limited slip, HIDs, all OEM.

I don't know for certain that it does. I'll have to see what paperwork I have at home, but the original owner did some upgrades, that may have been one. tailchaser has spent more time under the hood of the car than I have.

Leaky CAS ring on a 10-year-old car? Or do NBs not have the CAS issue?

They do not, but could have been a rear main seal issue.

I would recommend checking either Edmunds.com or KBB.com to get a baseline price and at least have an idea of what the car is going to be worth to the average person.

Edmunds puts you at about $4,800
    KBB said about 5,500.

Remember that these prices could be artificially low since it's hard to take into account a potential buyers' love for clean, low mileage NB's.

Hey everyone, this is indeed my old car. I wrecked it twice (the frame is only bent a little), it doesn't have 4th gear anymore, and the left side rear wheelwell is rusted out because of Katrina. Other than that, it's in fair shape.

Oh, Good! We all thought it might be trashed!

Of course I was just kidding. The car was in extremely good shape when I sold it to Rebel. No accidents, routine maintenance was kept up, and there was nothing wrong with the car that I was aware of. I had to replace the clutch at about 34k because it was slipping - fluid had seeped in and glazed the plate. Rogue did indeed replace the clutch and did a fantastic job... I had absolutely no issues with the transmission after that.

I autocrossed the car, and tracked it a few times, but took very good care of it along the way. It's a 1999 LP 5 speed with LSD, PW, PS, AC (obviously), and the smaller body kit (I think it was called LP1, and included a front lip spoiler and smaller side skirts). I added:
    • an OEM Shock Tower brace -- the kind that was on the 1999 Sport model
    • Front and rear springs from a 1999 Sport Model
    • 1.25 hollow Racing Beat front swaybar
    • KYB Adjustable Shocks
Basically all the good stuff to bring it up to snuff in the old CS class in AX. Here is a link to a thread on this forum where I discussed all this with some of the guys here (http://www.dfwmiata.com/showthread.p...ghlight=shocks). The car does not have ABS. The only 1999 car that had ABS was the 10AE.

When I sold it to Rebel, I gave him all records that I had, including things like the original window sticker and a 1999 brochure for the car. I was pretty meticulous about keeping records, but won't swear that every receipt is in that file.

Cosmetically, the car was in excellent shape as well. Yes there were some rock chips, but fewer than you'd expect on an (at that time) 8 year old car. The interior was clean with only some blackening on the driver's side center console where your knee rests while driving. This was due to sweat, and could probably be cleaned. The left side of the drivers seat bolsters were showing some wear (just from normal entry and exit), but they were not worn through by any stretch of the imagination. I'm not sure what Rebel's been doing with my car since he bought it, but the floormats were very clean when I sold it to him.

If you have any specific questions about the car, I'll be happy to answer them to the best of my ability. Unless Rebel wants me to shut up, in which case his check better be in the mail.

Well that saves me the time of detailing whats in the records...

Yes I still have everything Kestrel gave me, including the original window sticker. Nothing major has been done since and its still pretty much in the condition he described. (Just the additional miles since I bought it and any normal wear that comes along with it). Tires have been replaced but still have plenty of tread.

There were 42,626 miles on it when I bought it in Dec 07, I posted what it has now earlier. I used it for a DD for a while, had plans to do some more upgrades, but as I said doesn't look like I'll be able to do that for some time.

For the record, if I had a 3 car garage, I'd probably be buying this car, and would have no hesitation doing so. If Rebel drives the car like he rides his bike, it shouldn't show any additional wear past the first owner's use.

Thanks tc. It hasn't had its 60,000 mile timing belt change, so that may be a consideration.

KBB has a range of 5245 to 6295...Edmonds is showing 4000-5000. And I'm seeing 2000 and 2001 models in that range for around 8.

I'll throw out a starting price of $5,500.
