I took the plunge!
Equipe Rapide will be holding event number 1 at Pennington Field on February 27th. This might be your last chance to autocross at Pennington. I hope to see you all there.
Equipe Rapide is now offering online registration for events in 2011.
Click on https://axwaresystems.com/axorm and set up an account. Go shopping in the club store to get 20% discounts on Challenge Cup entry fees by purchasing a membership. Get even bigger discounts with annual Pre-Pay where you get 10 event for the price of 7. Annual Pre-Pay includes Rapide PAX, locks in your work assignment for the year, is only available until February 27th, and is subject to limitations listed in the rules posted on our website.
When you set up your account you will need to insert two cars in your garage. One will use regular class letters and the other will have an R or W prefix for Rapide PAX entries. If you have selected annual Pre-Pay then checkout and you are all done. If you decide to enter individual events then you can choose the event in the Event Calendar tab. Always enter your regular class car first and your Rapide Pax car second. Registration closes on Friday at midnight before each event.
Thanks,

Registration is working great. A whole bunch of folks have already signed up and it has only been active for 1 day.

I just wanted to thank you guys for using a reasonable classification system.
"How big's your engine"
"Turbo?"
"Are your tires street legal?"
"OK, here ya go.
Equipe Rapide makes my brain hurt.
EDIT: Seriously... anyone got a solid guess?
2009 Mazda 3 (NOT Speed)
2.3L inline 4, normally aspirated
I’ll be running on tires wider than 225 (probably 235s, but likely not the 255s I bought off OZMDD), exact tires are TBD.
I swapped out both my front and rear sway bars, and the springs.
Other than that the only change is a K&N filter.

I'm thinking STX with 235 tires and ST with 225 tires.

The rear sway bar and springs push you out of stock. Tire width isn't regulated in stock, but is in Street Touring. The wheels size is limited in stock to oem width/diameter/offset. Air filter is pretty much good in any class.
Sounds like your car is best run in Novice class under an ST or STX pax. You'll have to talk to your class-mates about the tires if you run over 225 in ST. The pax numbers are similar, so no big deal either way.

STX (Street Touring X) let's you run up to a 265 width street tire.
That should be a fun car to run in the Street Touring classes!!
ER runs the same classes as Sports Car Club of America. Figuring out the right class can be a little confusing at times. But it looks like you're headed in the right direction!
Lots of very competitive tires are available for the Street Touring Classes. I ran in STX last year & we ran Dunlop Star Spec tires. Very reasonable cost & we got upwards of over 200 runs before the tires wore out.
Welcome to the sickness we call Autocrossing! There is no cure!![]()
Yep, the first experience was pretty freakin awesome. I'm really looking forward to getting out a bunch this year.
I went with STX... and Andy fixed my "Novice" entry correctly. If I get my azz handed to me, so be it. I'm really not expecting to be competitive anyway.![]()
You will do fine if you focus on improving one thing at a time and avoid trying to force your way around the course. The novice class is a great way to have fun and not feel totally outmatched. I learned a lot from a season in novice, and managed to trophy in ER for the season awards in the Yaris, and you are starting with a better car.

Impressive weight reduction! I'm thinking you will need a little more car around that motor to be class-legal.

This motor weighs as much as OZMDD's car and is as loud as BumbleBee's paint job.

Is ER enforcing the 100 db rule?
VW Bug in running shoes
M Porcupine sedan
M Porcupine coupe
Crusty old e46 beater
Battery Powered appliance car
If you have ever worked a corner when my white Mustang convertible came by you can testify that it might as well be an electric car. It make no noise at all.
