Understood, Andy. I'm just saying that there are a ton of NA miatas, and it requires less effort to allow them all to run 6" wheels than it does to check year/package and rim width than it does to let them all buy 15x6" wheels. They are more common and nobody is really getting any performance boost form 1/2" of wheel.

This is just a reminder. Online registration closes on Friday. If you want to pre-pay for the entire year you get a discount of 10 events for the price of 7. Go to AXWare to the club store and you can pre-pay online. Pre-pay is only available until the first event this Sunday. We accept registrations and pre-pays in person on Sunday. There are a bunch of folks signed up already for event #1.

    See you there,

What is the difference between X pro class and Tire class? Does X pro class allow r comps and if it does will the pax take in to account the difference in r comps vs street tires?

X pro class will allow R-comps for non ST class cars, and it will not adjust PAX for Street tires cars. Just to be clear about Street tire class, it's for non ST class cars on street tires mostly Stock and SP class cars.

Xpro is a class designed for drivers interested in competing against other high-level drivers, and the times are pax'd just like they would be in Rapid pax. Only difference is that they are competing head-to-head in the same class instead of being spread-out in the open classes.

The rules regarding tires (and everything else) are exactly as-written in the SCCA rulebook. Most of the xpro drivers are planning to compete at Nationals and/or divisional and tour events, so expect fast drivers in well-prepped cars, and everyone will be very picky about rules.

Tire class is for vehicles that meet all rules for whatever non-ST class they run in, but choose not to run R-comps. This might make them uncompetitive in their respective open class against drivers with r-comps, or they might just want to run against a larger group rather than be in a small or one-car class.

Nice job. You should consider a teaching position.

    Thanks for the explanation.

So Ozz, are you running in Xpro or STR?

I want be like Jimmy when I grow up.

jbh - undecided. Started running Xpro with SCCA at the end of last season, but not sure which club I'm going to run the full season with. Whichever one my codriver and I decide to do will likely be in xpro, then run a few events in open class in the other. I should know by Sunday. :)
