Congrats to POS for laying down the smack in ES today. Weather was great, except for the wind gusts tripping the lights. Driver's meeting ran way too long and folks were losing interest quickly.
FYI - ER Sent me this E-mail :
Important Email message from your club's administrators.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You have all registered for ER Event #1. We will have two lines at the timing trailer on the morning of the event. One line will be for you who have pre-registered. You will need to check your name off the list so we know you are there. You will then need to sign the insurance waiver and report to David or Danny for your work assignment. The other line will be for those who are registering on-site.
Thanks,
Andy

BTW Andy are you planning on posting sound readings? It was a perfect storm sort of day to blow the sound check.
Thanks for all you do.
Steve
Congratulations POS Racing on your win today. Now, go back to tire class.
Fun day, and met some new people, including Bigsrturbo. Hope to see you'll again at another autocross.
On the track, I am fearless.
If you were as slow as me, you wouldn't be afraid either.

Great day of driving... glad the rain held off. Thanks very much to the folks that rode with me!
I've got about 200 pictures... or 200 versions of the same rather mediocre picture, taken from roughly the same spot. I'll go through them and if there's anything decent they'll be on shutterfly sometime soon.
Nice job there cwemyss! Apparently it IS true that gold wheels make you faster!
Looks like you won't need to hang around novice for too long the way you drove today. Let me know if you need any help on the camber bolts. Shouldn't be hard to find.

We didn't record any sound readings. We only notified the folks who went over.

I don't think the sound meter was working. I had a higher sound reading with my resonator on than I did without it. By ear the resonator has reduced the sound. Please verify the meter before people start to make changes based on the readings.
Also a 30 minutes driver's meeting is a bit excessive and very down in the weeds. How about a noobie meeting and a regular drivers meeting. Be careful, if noobies are forced to sit through that they will not comeback.
M3 is always the answer.
BeforeI start getting lots of hate mail, I'll let you all know that the 2010 pax numbers were used. We will recalculate and change your positions accordingly. It should only effect Tire, Novice, X-PAX and Rapide PAX results. I'm not sure what went wrong, I typed each number in the computer personally but they didn't stick for some reason. If you won the wrong amount of money then we'll get the difference to you at the next event. We don't need any money or trophies back from those of you who received them in error.
Thanks,

Good on you for fessing-up right away. Nice to know that mistakes can be addressed and not hidden.
Now about that "tech" issue...

Thanks for the kind words kids it was actually nice for the POSIV to actually finish in the top 1/2 of its class for once.
I don't think I'm ever going to leave ES now!
I do have to agree with the masses on the drivers meeting it was bad really bad. None of the local AX groups are masters of the drivers meeting but this one has reset the bar.
One more thing... anyone know why it took over an hour after the last run to get to trophies? I realize that the trailer has to be packed, cones stacked, etc, but I don't remember it taking this long in the past.
Hopefully that can be worked-on, as several people (including me) gave up and left after waiting a while.

I didn't participate in this event, but I did stop by as a spectator. It was one of the louder events at Pennington Field I can remember attending.
It appeared that the sound equipment was set up, but that no one was receiving infractions (or being parked) for exceeding the maximum sound level at the event.
With this lot's future in question and the school board meeting that will decide its fate coming up in a couple of weeks, it seems kind of stupid that ER decided not to police sound at this event. Was there a reason ER chose to ignore the new sound rules the rest of the local clubs have agreed to abide by?
Kudos to Jerrett and NTAXS for having the balls to enforce the new sound policy last month. No one likes to be the bad cop, but you did the right thing to try to ensure future access to the site. Too bad ER couldn't follow through on the same thing.

On the plus side thank you for stepping into the 1990's and adding online registration!![]()
Lots of things happened. We had to put out all those barricades and pick them up. That took several additional minutes. On top of that, one of the cleanup crew left early leaving only a couple of us to do it all. I saw a group standing near the trailer and impressed them into service in order to get all the cones picked up. Typically, the corner workers for the last heat will stack cones around their corners. That didn't happen at this event. We had to upgrade AXWare to a new version that supports online registration. The new software gave us a few problems like the printers not working or live timing. Lots of people took the wrong number of runs. Some had three pax runs and three regular runs or three regular runs and only 1 pax run. The audit of the results was a monumantal task with me having to go find people and figure out what runs they actually took. On top of that, a few folks changed classes mid-event or after registering but before running.
Trying to roll-in new classes, president, payout features, sound, online registration, and a new version of the software all in one event proved to be quite a challenge. We did make it through and still got done at a reasonable time. I know it is tough to sit and wait for trophies but at least you all weren't still out working the course. I was the last to leave the site at 4:30. I can remember the days where 75 entrants with 4 runs each would have us giving out trophies in the dark. We made 75 drivers with 6 runs and done with trophies before 4.
It will be better at the next event.

Kudos again to you Andy for being very forthright about the issues. Not really sure why you're not President this year, since you seem to be doing all the work.
