So what's this about Ron having a tire delaminate? And Jon W. took fourth - what happened there? Did Chris Williams come up from Austin to play?
In ES we had an interesting day! 'Old Bull's' MR2 was having a shifter cable issue, but he was still able to keep it in front of the POS Racer, which was discouraging but I got darn close to catching him.Originally Posted by tailchaser
Then for the PAX runs 'old bull' ran the POS Racer luckily he wasn't able to bet my best time in my car. That would have hurt my feelers! He was surprised how loose my car was so I will be trying the stiff setting on the bar at the next Mineral Wells event. I got to ride along for one of his PAX runs in my car, which really helped me. The ‘old bull’ may have gotten the better of me today but it is truly a privilege to run against such a classy guy! Now if I could just figure out how to bet him!

Chris was up... I think he got bitten by the ghost of Hoosiers past @ Mineral Wells.
Before Ron started his Rapide Pax runs, we were standing in grid, and I glanced down to notice a LARGE chunk missing from his right front tire. Upon closer inspection, we found that the tread was all gone there - just casing underneath.
Gibson99 was also up from Houston and even met us at McDonald's.

It was a very good event. Nice curvey course with WIDE-open slaloms (pretty much straight-away's for our small cars ). Excellent weather except for some morning clouds and a very short spot of rain/sprinkles. No serious timing issues, and only one event stop (for a BM car that threw a rod). About 85-90 cars (140 "entrants" including R-Pax)
A couple of "things of note":
- General Default earned real money in the R-Pax, scoring 3rd place overall. I for one am very happy to be turning my money over to a Miata Pilot instead of just handing it over to the HS and STS boys for a change!
- There were only 2 cars in Novice class.
- We had two visitors from "down south". Chris W (CS) and Jason G (CSP) drove all the way up from Houston/Austin to come run with us in DFW.
If you missed this ER event, you missed a good one. Remember this when we are standing in the 104degree heat at Pennington Field... :P

How many cars showed total? Sounds like it was a fun day.
Wish I coulda been there. Guess its time to take the P5 out and run HS or STS

I never would have made air leaving MW at 5:30... I'm glad I didn't go.Originally Posted by tailchaser
The "Race Report" is up. Please let me know what I missed (including an accurate count of Miatae, if you've got it).
At least you got paid . . . I worked all day and still didn't leave for Waxahachie until 8 last night. I would have never gotten to MW, Athens, and Waxahachie in one day. Sorry I missed it.Originally Posted by Tn
Excellent report, nice work. That picture of the guy from the French Foreign Legion is a bit out of place, but I guess we gotta add some comic relief just to keep people's attention (by the way, Cheesecake's neck was still burnt to a crisp ).Originally Posted by tailchaser

I'm sure it's "user error" again, but it doesn't look like JRW got credit for his PAX runs... does anyone else see his PAX times? Or maybe he didn't run PAX? I thought he did...Originally Posted by POS Racing

JRW bailed prior to PAX instead of risking tread coming off the tire mid-run and dinging body panels (or worse...)
I'm guessing a NADA Miata is someone (possibly Rich's) idea of a joke...
