Tight bastards I work for wont give me VPN. Our policy is that we are to "Make an attempt to get to work". Screw it, I took vacation yesterday, today and probably will tomorrow. Hate doing it but I hate driving on that crapo even more so.

^^^ This... for the most part.

But I think our Frisco office will probably be closed tomorrow AND Friday if that next round of snow hits tomorrow night.

GISD and daycare are closed again tomorrow. If I have to spend another day cooped up in this house someone might get hurt, so I am planning on making the trek into the office tomorrow.

Of course, my company is one of the industrial customers that Atmos Energy is cutting gas supplies to, so the thermostat in the office tomorrow will be set at 50 degrees. FML.

Getting cabin fever myself. I ventured out to Tom Thimb today, partially to see how bad things are. Neighborhood streets here in Plano range from ok to horrible. Once you get to major streets like Parker road, there is enough clear pavement to get around if you drive sanely.
Worst part was almost landing on my ass in the parking lot.

Can't see not going to work tomorrow after morning rush hour.

Some "major streets" in Plano are in better shape than others... Park just east of Preston was in horrible condition this afternoon. Fortunately, I don't *have* to be anywhere (nor does Amanda) tomorrow, so we can run whatever errands we need at times when others are likely not out moving about. Worked well today.

My buddy w/ a truck gave me lift to pick up my laptop from work. Finally, I can get some work done ... tomorrow.

I actually ventured out today just before dark to see how the roads were. Some roads are in good shape while others are very sketchy. While McArthur had clear tracks changing lanes was interesting. I'll probably head in tomorrow after the crazies.

Been working from home for 6+ years, but took a snow day yesterday and attributed it to the rolling blackouts.

I live at the bottom of a hill that is a sheet of ice and spent a fair portion of the day standing at the front window sipping coffee and watching knuckleheads try to climb it. No successes at all. One guy did manage to make it about 100', but then he lost the front end and stopped 90* to the direction of travel. He finished getting reoriented and rolled down the hill, turned the corner and parked on the flats... Another gentleman decided to abandon his car right in the middle of the road on the next street over and a wrecker came for it a few hours later.

The Miata is in the garage on UHP rubber, and I just finished installing new front hubs and rear wheel bearings so it won't be going anywhere till this crap clears. Wife bunkered up on necessities before the weather came and we've got gallons of booze and cases of mixers, so we're good for a couple of weeks.

I learned how to drive in the snow, and the first thing they teach is to not mess with ice.

    Good times.

Drove the bitter 1/2 to work downtown Ft. Worth then headed back over to the world headquarters in Euless.

Roads were much improved from yesterday but be careful the idiots are still out there among us in their F250 4 Door 4x4's.

Made it to work in about 25 minutes this morning. Did not have any problems other than moron drivers and I was able to avoid them.
