Thread: HELP may be needed tomorrow

Default HELP may be needed tomorrow

I am arriving at DFW tomorrow morning and my Miata sporting T1-S summer tires awaits me. If the roads there are anything like the media makes them out to be, I will likely need help getting home from someone with a vehicle able to get around in these conditions. If you are willing to help, text me at two1four nine2three 5seven2four. I should be arriving on American Airlines flight 893 scheduled to land at 9;40am.

I live near DFW and the roads had pretty much melted by 4:00. There are still some slick spots where there was ice before the snow, but the highways are pretty much clear. The problem may be closer to your house so maybe you can call a neighbor and ask how the roads are. I'm driving around on some worn Star Specs so I doubt I'd do much better than your Miata.

If the highways are passable, I may try to make it as far as Firewheel mall, and then see if i can talk Iain into coming out in his CRV to get me the rest of the way home.

I drove from OKC to Propwash on my RE-11's, yesterday.
I can't believe I made it, really. :faint:
I would have been just as well off with slicks.
Tomorrow should be OK when the sun comes out, but its not the roads as much as the idiots that think their lo-pros are snow tires.
Be careful Todd, I'd come get you but with only Miata's I'm in just as bad shape as you.

The roads were in good condition this afternoon, just like driving on wet roads. But when the sun started going down, all that water frozen and the roads were worse than when I drove on them Tuesday. I could barely manage 20mph, and even that was pretty hairy. Luckily I missed a stupid UPS driver who decided to test his brakes in the middle of the Cooper I-20 overpass. I couldn't stop, but managed to change lanes just in time to miss his bumper....to see there were no cars between him and the light (at least 100 ft)...he was just being a total ass.
Wealth, power, and experience are apparently not enough to save us from social influences. Groupthink, as described by I.L.Janis, is the tendency for group members to reach a consensus opinion, even if that decision is downright stupid (Janis 1982).

thankfully , i have the lancer so i haven't had any problems so far. that said, the roads were worse tonight than they'd been all week. the melting snow has turned into slick sheet ice......

What happened? How far did you get? If you are close by I can come by to try and help out.

Made it to pgb and shiloh. Ice under the shiloh overpass. Low speed spin into wall. Will need at least a new front fender, new rear wheel, and some paint work on the rear fender. Will look closer once it is home. My hip and head are a little sore from when I slammed the wall.

I'd tow it home as most shops are goinging to be slamed due to all the accidents so there is a good chance your car will sit outside. The insurance adjuster won't care if they come to your house or the shop but that is just my
