Default Well I'm building for STS class

So I had already ordered parts when I first got my miata before I started reading rules on scca and stuff and turned out all the parts I ordered put me in sts class..like coilovers...exhaust...intake...susp bushings...and so on..I wanted to start out in ES class since I've never done autox before but my car has 178k miles and it's a rattle box so I wanna try to get her where she drives alittle better and a little better throttle response so I'm just going to put all the stuff on that's sitting in my garage and order my 15x7.5 enki rpf1s and go get last place everytime but atleast I'll have a blast!!!! Thanks to the guys that has helped me out with all my questions and see u guys at the track!!!!

I hear ya. The very few mods on my car send me straight to CSP...well at least last time I autocrossed(suspension, wheels + torsen, now with light flywheel). So this season if I finally make it back out there i'll have fun in last place, heh. It's still a blast either way.

ES is actually as fast as STS, and can be more expensive to be competitive unless you have an R-package NA, then buy R-comp tires. It seems like a "stock" car would be cheaper, but only if you have the right car, and even then you'd spend money on adjustable shocks, light wheels and R-comps. In some ways the ST classes are more affordable since you have a lot of choices in aftermarket parts and tires are MUCH cheaper and last longer.

As several have said, your car won't put you in last place, it will be driving that places you. The national champion in STS last year had a car that was widely considered to be underprepped. Also, if you are running in novice - as you should - you will be against other new drivers.

I have a pretty quick miata that is well-prepped, and my Dad will be codriving in novice tomorrow. Odds are high that he will get beat by "slower" cars. :)

Bigsrturbo are you signed up for the Equipe Rapide Autocross tommarow so you can get your baseline before the parts swaping starts?

Prep your car in a way that makes you happy. If you loss interest in your car you will end up bowling in your free time.

Well I was going to enter tomorrow but I have to work tomorrow night at 10 and if I had to be there at 730 in the morning and stayed all day I really would not have time for a nap...and I'm not sure my pos would even pass tech right now...I just got her last week so I'm trying to work all the bugs out of her.fix leaks and make sure everything is tight...I have a weird rattling coming from my brakes...driving it's rattling a lot on bumps then when Im coming to a stop pressing the brakes it goes away so I need to pull the wheels off and check it...it might be the hubs or bearings maybe....
