Thread: So what are you doing to your car during the offseason?

Default So what are you doing to your car during the offseason?

I think David had a thread like this last year. Just curious what people are doing? Maybe you are doing a big upgrade, or just added a new go fast sticker to your MR2.

Me, I decided to buy a miata to race instead of the M roadster. Purchased a 2000 model 5 speed with hardtop. New coil over suspension has been ordered, sway bar is in a box in the garage, plan to order 15x9 wheels with 225 RS3's in January.

I may run the BMW some at the BMW events unless some wants to buy my race tires and wheels first.

Lets here whats new in the offseason.

(hopefully) getting my timing belt and speedo cable changed, finding the leak in the PS system, a fixing a bunch of interior issues I've got.

And FINALLY tracking down the acceleration lurch that has been going on since I bought it.

The racecar: finish stripping and seam welding the tub. Build and weld in the roll-bar and strengthening tubes (it's not really a cage). Paint the tub. Bolt up the subframes and suspension.

The streetcar: swap out the tan interior for all the black interior parts I've collected. Find a set of 6.5" BBS RS barrels to widen my wheels. Remove all airbag parts and add wiring for Ipod line-in, USB charging, and V1. Stick the Koni 2812 shocks on until I get the custom aluminum Bilstein shocks built. Swap the steering wheel out for a Nardi I bought a few years ago. Buff the paint.

Minor brake work (pads, stainless lines, new rotors) and other maintenance/minor repairs.

Then, if everything works out a new front subframe, motor mounts, and delrin bushings. Hopefully, during the year, I can add a header, DPT tune, and fresh valve springs.

I need to save for a set of RPF1's and a set of Star Specs more than likely...
    Possibly corner balancing as well.

Driving it...........but in all honesty getting the stuff together and hopefully completing a dual TB for mine. I just can't tune the idle droop out of the setup with the intercooler in the system. Putting in a harness bar soon hopefully and possibly starting on the paint/body work.

Install NB sport sway bar (need adjustable endlinks if anyone has a set). Change fuel filter, repair bolster on drivers seat, find or build a CAI, replace shifter boots, get car aligned and balance tires. That ought to keep me busy enough!

FM front swaybar, SGDP & Exhaust, and hopefully new tires for my spare wheels (trying to find something cheap and will work for AX & track duty).

'04 Sport, Nordic green mica, HIDs, foglights, DSC, 73k miles. Fresh upgraded transmission, new OEM cat, plugs, coils, and shocks. $8500 OBO. Still have a set of minty 17x9 RPF1s I'll throw in with the car for the right price.

I'm trying to work out that strange buzzing sound from the engine bay...

Also going to mill the control arms or replace them for some real front camber, fresh R comps.

You know if you actually buy some new tires you'll be out of excuses, right?
