Doesn't have to be the same brand of tires all around does it? And is there any contingency? :)

Works for me. Especially since there isn't a tire contingency for the Street Tire Shootout at the National Street Tire Challenge.

CRXs and NA/NB Miatas would bump with us to CSP, so they'd have to beat us on scratch time. No idea where a stupid Spec Civic would land though...

Edit - Never mind. We'd be in RWD, stupid Spec Civics/CRXs would be in FWD. Just switched my registration to RWD/CSP.

Cool! We get to run against Madarash!

Somehow I doubt he would deign to put street tires on the Beast.

    Hi David.

You do not have to be running any brand of tires to be eligible for the tire money. There are no other tire contingencies. SPS Solotime's contingency is higher if you are running their numbers. If you finish in an SPS Solotime trophy spot you will need to send them a picture of your car with the number on it to claim the higher prize.

I am looking forward to the RWD class. It should be big (we had 67 entrants in WI last year) and should be pretty close when all the stock and prepared indices sort themselves out.

No, sorry. Muscle is limited to older muscle cars, rather than newer muscle cars which your Z06 undoubtedly is. I am actually surprised we did not specify a year in the NSTC rules. we spent a lot of time talking about a 1979 cut-off....

Does a '94 V8 Roadster Miata qualify for Muscle?

No, sorry. Has to be an older hot rod. I need to get the supps updated. You would run in "R" class for this event.

Default Hyperfuels will be at Mineral Ring for the NSTC

Just a quick note. Hyperfuels will be sponsoring the NSTC at the Mineral Ring and will be on-site for the Texas Region event on Sunday. They will bring pump gas with them both days. Additionally, any of their products can be ordered and will be delivered at no additional cost to the event. See their web page here: http://www.hyperfuels.com

Default Why You Should Attend the NSTC

I had an interesting conversation yesterday at the Mineral Ring (thanks PCA guys - had a great time). This person was concerned the NSTC was too "professional" for regular autocross competitors. Nothing could be further from the truth.

The NSTC was designed for the more casual auto crosser, the kind of competitor who runs on the tires he or she drove to the event on. If you run in Novice, Tire PAX or ST classes with the SCCA, ER, S2K, BMW, Porsche or Good Guys, this is the event for you. It was tailor made especially for you. No impound, special tech, stickers, or grid rules. The event is competitive, but laid back. The NSTC will be very much like any local event you have attended here in the DFW area, but with more prizes. Don't be put off by the "National" name. We did this in order to attract sponsors, and add credibility to the event.

Everyone who participates will get a t-shirt. The top 5 finishers in each class will win some really nice prizes. The overall winner gets a set of Bridgestone RE-11s. The top 30% or so finishing in each class will win a special trophy. We will get as many runs as we can squeeze in during the day. The course will take up most of the Mineral Ring - it will be both fast and fun. After the event, the Texas Region is hosting a party featuring great food and drink. Sunday there will be a "regular" Texas region event - so you can make a weekend out of it.

If you are on the fence, sign up. The event will be great fun, and due to the street tire only nature of the event, will provide very close finishes in all classes. In addition, one entrant at random will win a new set of Bridgestone RE-11s. The odds of winning are most likely going to be around 1 in 100. Those are pretty good odds. If it were a raffle, you might consider paying $45 just for the chance to win the tires. Think of the event, the t-shirt and the party as a free bonus.

So. Sign up before the 6/1 deadline at http://www.nationalstreettirechallenge.com. If you have any questions, please email me, or feel free to post it here. I look forward to seeing you all there.
