Thread: Rota Grid V 15x8 +20 - Special Order

  1. #1

    Default Rota Grid V 15x8 +20 - Special Order

Currently the only sizes available for this wheel are:

    15x7 +20
    15x7 +0
    15x8 +0

If you don't know what this wheel looks like, it's a "replica" of the TE37-V and there is a thread here that has pics of the wheels mounted on various Miatae starting around page 10.

I've been in touch with Jenny at 18racing.com and they said that if we can get 3 people together to put deposits down on the Grid V in 15x8 +20 (Bronze) they can get a run specially made in this size. IMO - this is a pretty no-compromise size for the NA and NB Miata. It'll fit decent sized tires with no fender pulling and still looks very flush without the "poke" of the OMGSUPERHELLAFLUSH style.

Cost will be $600/set (Shipped). This arrangement will be 1/2 deposit up front and 1/2 due when the wheels are done in 2-3 months.

I am not collecting money. If you want to participate please contact Jenny directly:

She will process your payment. As soon as we have 3 total people (me +2) they will place the order. If you do put your deposit down, please reply to this thread so that people know this thing has traction.

This may be a stupid question but, do they all have to be bronze or can we get one of their other colors? I might be interested as I love the look but not the 0 offset.

Pretty sure they all have to be the same color. I will verify if custom colors are possible.

With regards to colors, every 3 sets can be a different color. So if we have 6 people ordering wheels we can order 2 different colors.

Cool. If that is the case then I think we have at least 3 orders. Perfect!

Still waiting on info regarding the brake clearance. I did find out that these will have a Miata-specific 54.1 hub bore.

Not sure if you are trying to abide by STS rules, but if you are, then you cannot go wider than 7.5".

Do you know if i can get 2 15X7+0 Front and 2 15X8+0 Rear for a stagger look?

Call or email Jenny and find out. Though, I don't know if I would recommend running staggered wheels on a Miata just for the look of it. It could have a very undesirable impact on handling performance.

Okay, folks. I have confirmation that these will clear Miata brakes on the NA and NB. I've placed my deposit. I think we actually have enough interested people to get a 54.1mm hub bore on our order. Just need one more person to step up with a deposit! Call Jenny and put it down!

~15lbs a piece. Since this size has never been made there is no exact weight. The 15x7 is about 14.5lbs.

Just an update on the special order for 15x8 +20 on these:

Looks like some of the interested people are sitting on the fence. We need 1 more person to get in on the group buy to get the order placed next week.

    Recap:
    Grid V
SPECIAL ORDER ONLY size 15x8" +20 (Get flush but still fit decent tires!)
SPECIAL ORDER ONLY center bore 54.1mm Miata-specific
    Color - Bronze

To get them: Call or email 18racing.com and ask for Jennifer. She'll hook you up.

I am not collecting or making any money on this. Just passing along the news.

Just received word that Rota backed down on doing this custom size/offset. Not sure why. Whatever the case, this custom size is no longer going to be available.

    Time for plan B.
