    Default another timing question

I did do some looking and could not find my answer
Just picked up the miata and yep it is green blue black depending on the light
The guy had the head replaced and it never started. He was told the motor was shot
I am not sure it is and here is why
The battery was completely dead, gas tank bone dry ,oil was not changed or filter which I think you would do if you do a head job
Says he has 60 psi on each cylinder which I think would be enough to at least let it start ,or hit .
Maybe it would run rough smoke or not even move but at least fire up or hit
    The engine just spins over
Is there a way to check the timing without having to remove all of the front , I would like to make sure that the engine is shot and not them geting the timing wrong
When the car rolls over it has has more of rumble sound like it is firing on an open valve or something
If there is an article that someone can point me to , it would be appreciated
Oh yeah ,the car is in far better shape than expected

The timing belt might be installed wrong. You should be able to check things by just removing the valve cover.

Spin the motor over to TDC - match up the marks on the crank pulley and block. Then pull the valve cover and see where the cam gears are. I'm with sammm - sounds like the TB is on wrong.

well did as told by you guys and guess what I looked in the trunk and there is a 90 -97 repair manual so that made it easier.
Made sure everything was correct to the point of being sure I was on comp stroke and still not convinced that I am not missing something
My son has an old jeeep and we can only get 30 psi comp on the cylinders and yet it will run
This miata has 60 psi and never hits ,I would think I would at least get it to hit even if it would not run
I do have fire on all plugs
The place it was repaired left a lot to be desired so going to do some more checking
Just thought I would give an update
Checked all the fuses, made sure the crank sensor was within tolerance ,timing belt lines up rolled it through several times and rechecked, install a new battery, added gas have not verified pump is pumping to injectors will do that tomorrow
When it rolls over still get the umpah/muffled sound like an open valve
