What a rat's nest of hoses and wires though...
Where do you think the battery is?
* The engine is waaaay back there, almost making the NC a "front-mid-engined" car like the RX-8. Nice.
* The battery appears to be located in the front now.
* No STB (probably to comply with EU pedestrian impact stds).
Seeing the dramatic repositioning of the engine makes me think, for the first time, that the NC might be a pretty serious performer. It weighs within 3 gallons of gas what an NB weighs, and it looks to have much better weight distribution. I can't wait for the MSM version! If they don't screw it up with 19" wheels, it'll be a scorcher.

Speculation on the is that the battery is one of the three black boxes up front. Apparently, the RX-8 runs a similar set-up. That gives the NC more trunk space, and the battery out back is no longer necessary due to better weight distrubution with the engine. Speculation, but...

There it is... right next to the Flux capacitor.Originally Posted by black roadster

My guess would be the one next to the coolant and washer tanks. (Passenger side)
The middle one is the airbox and the other one (driver's side) is the wrong shape. Wonder what it is?
Still, it's a messy engine bay. Wonder if it will have a goofy plastic cover like the RX-8?
i see a stb, going off the firewall. not much room for a turbo though.

Good friend of mine has the RX8, you have to pull the cover to add oil, which it needs quite often. His cover now hangs in his garage.Originally Posted by black roadster
The NC engine doesn't look 2 bad for a modern era car.
Hmmm.. lets surround the battery with water tanks!Originally Posted by black roadster
Where are you going to fit in the Supercharger? Forget installing an intercooler. Yes I am being negative but realistic.
Man that thing does not look to be aftermarket friendly. I would be willing to bet that there is now more room to fit more cubes under the hood....say 350 of them

I believe that the hot side and cold side are reversed from what we are used to, and that looks like a bunch of room over on the new hot side. In addition, most systems would likely replace that giant airbox with a cone filter, opening up space for intercooler pipes, etc.
I think you're right. It looks like a STB going from each upper shock mount to the firewall.Originally Posted by fwMiata
That engine is really far back. That's a good thing, but damn if it doesn't look mighty cluttered under there.
However, the pics I'd most like to see aren't under the hood, they're under the car, and closeups of the suspension.
