Default Anyone know anything about remote control ceiling fans?

Got a TCB deal on some Hunter ceiling fans on CL today.

Free is a good price, no?

    • Guy buys house.
    • Ceiling fans light up but don't spin.
    • The previous owners must have taken the remotes.
    • Guy called in an electrician to try and figure out why lights were working but fans were not.
    • Electrician must have never seen a remote control fan b/c he said the fans were missing a wire. (Hunter RC fans are white wire and black and green ground wire, no blue wire)
    • I guess he talked owners into replacing them.
    • Owner lists them for FREE on CL and I was first to call.

I am placing both fans in a single long room with two existing light fixtures.

    Here are my questions.

Can I get one remote to control both fans?
Do I need to replace existing RC receiver in the fans or can I use the Hunter RC receiver?

These fans have no pull cables so converting to manual controls does not seem possible.
    ...and across the line.

I've got a couple of remote Harbor Breeze ceiling fans. I had to set dip switches on the receiver and remote to the same code for each fan. I would think if the receivers are still there, they should have dip switches of something to configure. bet you could probably get by with just getting a replacement remote.

We just installed a 2 wire Remtoe Hunter Ceiling Fan.

You should be able to get the replacment remotes on the Web. I do no know what you will need to do to make them work with the current fans. I like the technology. I am curious how long it will last.

Yep. They have 4 channels with dip switches. I'll go to Home Depot and check it out. Thanks.
