Default 140 wheels stolen... how did they do it?

A crew got away with 140 20" wheels/tires Saturday night, all from Yukons and pickups from Heritage GMC in Rockwall...

    http://www.nbcdfw.com/news/local/Thi...126085683.html

This had to take a lot of planning and a big crew. Ho many people do you think were involved? How long did it take? How did they hall off all those wheels at once?

    Cordless Impact FTW!

They must not of had any on site security at that lot.

Back in the day my former brother law the cop had a part time gig guarding Huffiness Chevrolet. I'd help him on occasion you'd be amazed at the amount of people lurking about at all hours. We'd catch folks trying to boost trim rings and gas caps, pickup spares, and such.

While the dealership did not have surveillance cameras at the time of the thefts, it does now.

Most dealerships in the DFW area have cameras and armed guards. This place was easy pickings..... ;-(

I'm more curious as to how they are planning on selling them all. You'd think investigators would question just about all local new wheel sales ads on craigslist. 5 or 6 sets, sure, easy enough to hide while you sell a set at a time. 30+ complete sets of brand new wheels/tires? Not so easy. Send a few different "people" to buy sets from the same guys listing a set for sale, it's done.

    And welcome back, jeepin.

It is not that uncommon for ratty custom wheel shops to have several sets of brand new truck wheel/tire sets in the back from people that upgrade their brand new truck with something custom. My dad likes to buy sets like this because it was the same price as buying new tires. I could see these ending up in shops like that in OKC.

I-35 South to Mexico would be one of the easiest ways.

No way you could dump them in North Texas without the Krum PD getting wise!

That's why I said 5 or 6 sets of the same wheels/tires is easy enough to hide (I should have put "explain"). But 30+ sets (I heard 32 on the news last night) is a bit of a stretch I'd think. Especially to have 30+ sets with no verifiable documentation.

POS - I do keep forgetting we are so "close" to Mexico.

I'd Imagine Titus and his dad kept a few sets also which means less merchandise to fence.

I'm thinking the crew is ran by two brothers... one is in scrap metal, and one with a tire shop. The tire shop pulls all the tires off and sells them by themselves. That is where most of the money is and they would be a lot easier to move without drawing the suspicion. The aluminum wheels then get melted down and sold off along with all of the copper wire they steal from light poles.

They disabled the lights at the dealership so this wasn't a bunch of local petty thieves. To pull off this caper took planning and skill. That rules out Titus being involved. Being pros, I'm sure they now how to fence them.
    ...and across the line.

Krum PD will only snap to it if folks start rollin w/20's on their trailers. Even then, they'll likely let them off with a warning about how unsafe they are.

Big SUV's like the Yukon and full size trucks aren't selling. Wonder what size check the dealership is going to get for all those stolen wheels from the insurance company?
