Thread: Timing belt woes

    Default Timing belt woes

Thought I was getting into a pretty straight forward job doing the timing belt on the MSM but it's turned out to be a PITA. I've never done a TB, rotaries don't have 'em lol, so I did some reading and got the TB kit from FM. All was going well till it came to getting the crank bolt off and despite my best efforts, I can't get it off. Does anybody have a tool for holding the crank so I can get it off or would anybody be interested in coming out to Allen to give me a hand? I'm more than happy to pay ya for your time and top off your tank for your trouble. I'm at the bitter end with this thing and before I put it back together and have Mazda do it I'm hopin' someone can come to my rescue lol. Your sufficiently frustrated Duffman,AJ

I have a tool from Rennen Metal that is supposed to work on NA and NB Miatas that you are welcome to borrow. I am in Nevada, which I believe is about a 40 minute drive from Quinlan.http://www.rennenmetal.com/proddetail.asp?prod=2270

Apparently super Mazda mechanic tightened the crap out of it, couldn't get it to budge with the 3/4 ratchet and 3ft long prybar.

Titus, I live in Allen now off McDermott. Haven't changed any of my locations yet. :)
