Thread: What Temps Are You Seeing In This Heat?

    Today was better than yesterday.
While stopped at a stoplight in Bedford I had a quick look.
This is with the A/C on, fans wired normally.
I'll have to check when it's 108+ sometime.

    Outside temp: 104

    Coolant: 199.4

    Intake 147.2

I'm glad I put a nice thick aluminum radiator in before the heat came. The fan shroud really helps, too.

Forgot to add, I use premix 50/50.

I just replaced my radiator with an all-metal, 2-row setup. Put in some water wetter and a 50/50 mix of distilled water and long-life coolant. Don't know what the temps are, but it idles noticeably smoother now.

Now I wish I had measured coolant temps before and after.
Oh, well I've got two sevens, and two sevens beats a frush.

I've got 50/50 premix. I probably won't mess with it for the rest of this summer but next summer I'm draining some out and going with a 30/70 mix.

+1 for Chevy truck AC. My Chevy truck blows great cool air and cools down quickly. Can't say the same for the Japanese cars we have (Miata, Murano).

Yep, my 92 Chevy truck blows icicles, even sitting in traffic. R12 FTW!

The truck also has a lot less cabin to cool down.

After all the care you guys gave it, my 90 holds at just below the middle on the temp gauge, even sitting in traffic with the AC on.

I was thinking of this thread yesterday as my piece of fine Honda engineering was reading a steady 227 at 75 mph southbound on 75... The blast of hot hair propelled through the radiators at my legs was focusing my concentration at the time... This heat wave must end soon.
