Does it still have baby teeth, or can you put one back on with the grill?
Since Evil KK is going to be taking over the Yellow Miata I'm thinking it needs to have a front plate to make sure some over zealous Police Officer doesn't have an easy reason to stop her.
The car has a Buck Forward Grill on it and I'd like to keep it if at all possible.
I don't like the OEM plate mount since it makes it easy to push the screws through the bumper. Plus a high school parking lot is going to be a tough environment for the car anyhow so I'd like to have a setp that if bumped will not impale the bumper like the OEM setup can.
Has anyone seen a decent setup for an NB??
This is what we have now and have been running for about about 9 years.

I have one of THESE and am happy with it.
I just bought a couple of angle brackets from Home Depot, drilled them so that the appropriate bolts would fit, and mounted it. Cost was about five bucks total, it doesn't interfere with the cooling air flow, but it isn't the coolest mount out there. http://www.mikewalsted.com/Jan2011Miata.jpg

I can't see the clubroadster site without logging in. :/
Been thinking about building something like this

But not sure if it would swing in and hit the intercooler so I might make it swing from the bottom instead of into the top.

I've had a few different side mounts, but the garagestar version is by far the best one. It's strong enough to keep the plate off the body. But, it's not compatible with the grille. They offer an NB version that doesn't cover the foglight.

That looks almost identical to the OEM setup. Not a real fan of the OEM setup.
I do have a factory mount for the car but I have no intentions of using it. Plus I'd have to modify the grill and I'd like to limit the dremel time on the grill.
Yep want it down low where it will not be pressed into the front bumper by a fellow schoolmate.
Can you run the plate in the windshield is that legal?
Just don't want her to get hassled by a cop who decides to raze a teenage girl to boost his ego.
I got a verbal warning when I got pulled for speeding. I like the garagestar setup pretty neat though it wouldn't be real hard to fab something up with some simple stuff from Lowes.
As far as putting it in the window I'm not sure of the legality but would be worried about it turning into a projectile during a rear impact. That fear might be unfounded though not sure.

I present for your approval Prototype A.
Need more detail....is it just propped up on the splitter?
Not bad, but I'll bet it will sag down on the other side eventually.
