That video does not serve justice to the horror under the hood. There is no way I could have tuned that car without ear protection. So much for ever running at HHR again.

Car passed HHR sound test. Blower doesn't make it any louder 30 feet behind the car.

You should post the chart, the torque is lol. I had to pull some spark from 3500-5000 and 6500rpm because of this heat. I did this by increasing the amount pulled for 100*f+ IAT. So when it cools off (today) you will run more spark than you did on Friday, and it will make more power. This will not be reflected on the dyno's programmed corrections, because you will be running more spark. These 9.5:1 engines are pretty terrible for forced induction on gasoline, hopefully Jeff will build a 9:1 motor when that time comes. Jeff is running 15-17* of spark angle where I'm running 24-28*. I'd like to see him run the old pulley on lower compression and I be we'd make 250whp on the Mustang, or 280whp on a Dynojet.

I like comparing Jeff's car to mine:
Jeff's compressor efficiency is about to go way down hill as it increases RPM:

My car is literally just getting started at 11psi:

I predict that his "boost" increase will get a diminishing return on output. However happy turbo land is just getting started on mine, I'm at the very bottom of prime efficiency at ~100k rpm, which is why I can go from 11.5psi to 12.5psi and jump from 242whp to 258whp or so on a Dynojet. At 16psi I'm making roughly 305whp and 290wtq, just by turning a knob. The penalty is that he hits peak torque at 2500rpm and I hit it at 3400rpm. These cars are almost identical on the dyno right now, pretty cool stuff.

Don't be in a hurry. Most likely by the end of the year I'll be able to tell you what a good tune on a 11.5:1 NA motor with a square top and MS intake cam is truly capable of. im expecting 170whp minimum

I would love 170 all motor. That would be so much fun. What is a square top? First time I've heard that term.

Also - that sounds about as expensive as a 250whp+ turbo build. Just sayin'.

I say 170whp max. I may also want lower compression unless we're going to run corn on that car especially since we don't have real knock control.

You can't build a reliable 250whp track Miata for less than $7k. That engine in question is fairly inexpensive with and I'd leave it at 10:1 compression.

I can still port the blower and weld the 6 holes that are only there to decrees your air flow and make the blower quite, well more quite
