    Default KYB GR-2s for OTM?

The CR-V needs a new set of struts. For whatever reason Bilsteins are stupid expensive for this chassis (I refuse to spend nearly a grand on shocks for an appliance vehicle). Tire Rack has KYB GR-2s for $314/set.

Does anyone have any experience with these? I intend to keep the CR-V for quite some time (when we buy Melissa a new car next year I'll take it and use it as a daily driver), so I don't want to buy something I'm going to have to replace a year from now.

They worked well on our '97, but sadly, we only had it for 18 months after giving it fresh shocks before it met an untimely end...

They were a mediocre shock when I installed them on my 95M. The Koni Streets (Non-adjustable orange body shock) ride nice. We've installed them on a few customer cars.

No Koni streets available for the CR-V. Can't see the point in paying $800 for Koni yellows for a rolling toaster.

Besides, I have to cut open the front struts to install Koni inserts. More work than I want to do. KYBs include all new strut housing.

Being an appliance, I'd use whatever Sears wanted to sell me. No really, I would.

I know the KYB's get poor reviews on my Toyota Forum.

But since these are for a Honda they should be just fine!

I'd just buy whatever is a good deal on rockauto.com

Comfort valving is all you'd really want/need, as the CRV ain't a handling vehicle (at least our 97 wasnt)

I put them on my son's 98 Honda Civic last year and it was like driving a new car.

Rockauto.com has GR-2s and Monroe Sensatracs. KYB's are cheaper. Guess it's KYBs.
