Thread: Alignment Feels Off After Tire Rotation.

Default Alignment Feels Off After Tire Rotation.

I have had these tires less then a year, and have put less then 6,000 miles on them. i just saw that the front looks like they are started to have more tread then the rears so i swapped them, front to rear, not X pattern.

No uneven tread wear on the tires, they are all, 205/50/15 on the stock NB wheels, i just find it funny the car drives perfectly straight with the tires the way i had them, and after i swapped them its good a pretty noticeable pull to the right.

Whats funny is after searching "alignment off after tire rotation" in Google a Miata thread is the first thing that pops up from a different fourm, is this a common thing in miatas ?

check the air pressures... The Miata is very sensitive to a pressure differential in the front tires. You might only notice it in the rear under hard acceleration.

Should i also try swapping the front's side to side since my tires on non directional ?

Check tire pressures first, then if it still pulls, try swapping the fronts side-to-side. Could be a bad tire that you might not have noticed with it on the back.

I seem to have broken 2 wheel studs trying to get the lug-nuts off on my passenger side front wheel.

Do you think i should just change the whole hub/wheel bearing assembly or replace the two broken studs?

Its a 99 NB with 13X,XXX on the Odometer

You should be fine to just replace the studs unless the bearing feels loose or it's making noise.

Seems fine, i guess ill just put some new studs in.

When i put the new studs in, ill report back and see if its driving straighter now that the wheels have been swapped, i reduced air pressure from 35 to around 28 and it didn't help the situation at all.

When we said "check air pressure" it was to see if there was a pressure differential side to side... No reason to drop the pressure on all 4.

If the pressures were all equal, you probably have a bad tire. Stick 'em back on the rear and wait for the explosion and flaming death.

I didn't reduce pressure in all 4 just the one that i think is making the car go to the right, Front Right tire, same one i broke two studs on, if nothing else ill just rotate them back to how they were and replace them as they wear out

Fixed the studs yesterday, car seems to drive straighter after i swapped front tires from side to side ... <--->

A decent tire pressure gauge is like 5 bucks at vatozone. I ruined a set of tires a while back on my element due to one tire being really low and I didn't notice it. Granted the miata is very sensitive, but its cheap security.
