Not trying to oversell anything. Did I even mention our shop? I do not try to push our services on anyone. However, if someone is looking for a shop, I'll gladly refer them to us or Miata Solutions depending on convenience.

I never said you couldn't do it with typical garage tools. I was just stating it would not be fun as you often have to raise and lower the car several times. We aren't the only place with a lift and I was not even suggesting he come to us. If I was, I'd actually suggest we could do it for him. He already stated he was looking to for help for some pizzas. We don't accept pizza as a payment option. ( I wish we did!)

^ Nope you were just fishing for a reply with your ride height crap so you could mention Gary's shop in your very next post..... Is business that slow?

Yeah I don't see what's so hard with setting ride height with regular tools...? Don't understand all the hate.

Because even though the corner heights may measure the same, the corner weights may still be way off. You can NOT accurately corner weight a car with a tape measure.

I don't know what comes with RLs, so if you're coming here please make sure you have everything needed (tophats, sway bar end links, etc). I don't have spares of any of that and willing to bet no place local will either. PMed you my address.

Oh, and I grew up in NJ/NY so I'm a bit of a pizza snob. :)

Something tells me that inbalanced corner weights are not going to affect Justinb928. I think measuring the right height will work just fine in this case.

Some shops won't push (offer) the install of "Ricelands," just as Binswanger won't offer to install broken glass. Got to respect folks who try to help us make good choices.

No! Actually we have to much to do. Anyone looking for a part-time job? Must have mechanic experience and/or in depth knowledge of miata repair and upgrading.

    To Justin,

I wasn't trying to give you a hard time. It's just to properly install coil-overs you need to set the ride height and it can be a tedious thing which requires measuring, adjusting, measuring again, readjusting, etc and a change in one corner can affect the other corners. Completely doable but tedious.

Throw the idea that each time you have to adjust the height, you have to jack the car up, set the jack stands, remove the wheels, adjust to coil-over, replace the wheels, jack up the car, remove the jack stands, settle the suspension and measure all four corners and repeat as necessary, it is tedious! It's tedious with a lift so having to also jack the car up and set the jack stands on both sides each time, it's not a lot of fun.

Also, people will give you shit about the Race Lands. A $300 coil-over can not be a good thing when it's even cheaper than most non-adjustable shocks without any springs at all. I wish you luck with them but I'm afraid you may get what you pay for. Good luck.

Who is talking about corner weights? You're correct. Can't corner balance a car without scales. Ride height is completely different than corner weight. Most people don't need or can not appreciate a corner balanced car. Now if you're already hitting fantastic lap times, and want an edge, corner balance the car.

Yes, actually. Depending on what my company says about my upcoming school schedule tomorrow, I may or may not be looking

Based on my budget, and on what I intend to do with this car, I made a good decision with the coilovers. That being said, I'd appreciate if all the thread shitting could stop, because we've all heard it before.

I'm pretty sure I can do some creative thread shitting that you've never seen before.

Wait so you need help with coilovers? Man it takes about an hour. I thought this was to remove springs and stuff.

Use/google the long bolt method. It's really, really simple. I think that the hardest part is the rear nuts/bolts in the trunk, but a swivel and/or ratcheting wrench makes that short work.

I think it's referred to as the Andy Hollis method.

Pooping on the thread the install is simple and easy you will need a spring compressor.... If I'm correct Racelands dont have top hats so you will be using your original tophats.... compressing the spring is the hardest part in my opinion. I did my own timing belt by reading online if i did that you can do this I will be installing my new suspension soon when my lazy ass wants to..My new miata is a piece of $750 shit! It got a krylon paintjob haha!!! This community seems not as together as it use to be. Did i miss anything good?

Further thread shitting, how is compressing a spring the least bit difficult? Rent/borrow the tool. Hook the little rounded parts around a coil on the springs. Turn one side a few times, turn the other side a few times. Repeat until the spring is compressed as much as needed. It is infinitely easier than a timing belt job. Hell, it's arguably easier than removing/replacing a wheel since you don't need to set a torque wrench. It takes a bit of time, sure.

If you were trying to say that a very simple task is the hardest part to say it is a very easy job overall, then my apologies for thinking you meant compressing springs is remotely difficult.

Nothing wrong with the community that I can see.

Summary: whiny 20-year-old child seeks grown-up to perform manual labor for pizza and provide basic garage tools so said child can avoid spending more than $300 for suspension, then gets butt-hurt when repeatedly prompted to be a man. Boy will probably be back a third time asking for help when crappy used coilovers fail in the not-too-distant-future, then give-up and buy the Versa he is destined to own. Also, MR.BRG is extra-meanie!

    did I miss anything?
