No, he will tell you what you want and need aside from requesting the parallel harness. I can't wait to get mine, it's a slick computer. I may hold off installing it until I get the VVT engine in. That ugly white car is going to be a bad bitch, ~150+whp, 6-speed, 3.63, and ASTs, lol. Ugly as shit of course.

Ok, thanks for all the guidance. I'll make sure to request the "parallel harness." Remind me what that's for :) Is it to allow the stock ECU to return OBDII codes, or is that out the window?

I was under the impression that you had a 99 and needed OBDII compliance. This means you want a "parallel" install so the computer will continue reporting readiness codes for inspection, and MS will basically only control fuel, spark, maybe fans, maybe IAC. If you want to swap computers for inspection, and don't plan to mod the engine at all, then consider full stand alone.

No, you're right. Returning OBDII codes would be fantastic if it can be done without headaches. If it's more trouble than it's worth, then I'll get the ECU swap thing figured out. I'll defer to the you and the other experts on that subject...

I'm no expert...yet. I'm seriously behind the curve on a few things but I'm a decent tuner.

I'm fairly certain it will return codes without a problem if you leave the stock NB sensors in place and weld a 3rd bung for the WBO2 into the header. This is so the factory computer sees the heater-circuit working properly. If there is a way around that, I don't know it but would love to. I suspect a resistor will do the job but I'm uncertain. Reverant will help you with this, he is all-knowing. You should also join Miataturbo and look around there. It's the end-all, be-all for Miata tuning. We have the worldwide lead MS developers on that forum.

I'm on that forum, but I don't post much. I've been PM'ing Reverant there. He just asked why I wanted a parallel cable, was it for OBDII codes. I told him yes and tried to copy you on it. Not sure if that worked or not.

It didn't work but just let him take over, he's brilliant and I don't really know what I'm talking about.

Hehe. It's all relative. If you think you don't know what you're talking about... I'm completely blind over here. Speaking of not knowing what I'm doing, are you for hire regarding the install and tune? I can do cheesburgers, beer, and/or some dead presidents for your help...
