I'm regretting selling my 100k mileage base model '99 two years ago. It sold for $4500 and went to Chicago. The owner shopped Texas to find a rust-free car.
Man, theres not any good deals in town anymore :/ What happened to the NB market? All the prices went up! a few years ago youd be able to find green NB's for $4k! now its hard to find one a decent one for $5k![]()

Just posted today (no affiliation)..While it's not a 99/03 it might be worth looking at. Asking price is low,may get it for less. Oh yeah, it's already FTD so it's got that goin for it.
2000 Mazda Miata NB - $3750 (FlowerMound/Lewisville)

2000 Mazda Miata 1.8 Liter engine, 5 speed standard, about 104k miles, exterior red, black interior, glass window on soft top.
Flaws: front bumper is cracking due to age - could use a new one, same goes for the soft top.
Soft top is starting to show its age, has a 2 inch cut on driver side. no airbags, Paint has scratches expected with age.
Pros: low miles, Fun To Drive, a/c, heater, Fun To Drive, brand new 100 month battery, Fun To Drive, Drive Train is SOLID, and its Fun To Drive
Detachable stereo (though I never listen to it, because I am having fun just driving). Inspection sticker until January 2013 (just past inspection) and Tags until May of 2012, and FTD!!!!
Other: Tires are size 15 and maybe a little too large for the car but in relative good shape, it has HONDA wheels (they just looked better than the Mazda ones - apologies to the purists). This is still a 12 yr. old car, there are always minor flaws here and there but not many.
Why sell if it is FunTo Drive? Beause family of two became family of three -- kid does not want to stay home with granma any more.
This is really a fun car to drive (and I had many fun ones to drive), it has flaws but a solid drive train. Craigslist has 21 miatas under $4k and the newest model is a 1997 (all first generation). If you can find a cheaper second generation (NB) miata.....buy it!!! and have fun with it!!!
I will post pictures when the weather clears!!!
If you are interested in seeing it, shoot me an email and we can connect and schedule a time and place.
The unpleasant: Don't mean to be rude but you wouldn't believe the things some people come up with.
No, I will not take a thousand for it, the asking price is $3750.
No, I am not interested on trades.
NO, I will not finance.
NO, I will not take a check, cash only.
NO, I will not ship anywhere, cash and drive
NO, I will not meet you outside the Dallas metro area.
No, the car is NOT perfect.
I will delete the add when the car is sold or if I change my mind about selling it because it is FTD!!!!

And expanding the search a bit (OKC) here's a great candidate, with some useful mods (bar, HT) and you could recoup some cost by selling the suspension. Obv. year typo in post body)..

1995 Mazda Miata. 127,000 miles. Cold A/C. Factory hardtop. Hard dog roll bar. Flyin' Miata dual tip cat back exhaust. Tein coilovers. NGK plug wires. New tags as of today.
We've had our eye on that one. But the repaint is a little spooky. If it was local we'd have checked out by now, but to drive up there just to risk finding a bondo barge is iffy.
Wow that red one looks nice, ive been looking for a hard top and roll bar as well.
