Since this thread is just slightly off topic: Where do you even find a Western Union? I haven't seen one in years. I would have told the guy no strictly because that would require me leaving the house to go hunt down a WU and figure out how to even use it. Some times laziness is the best option.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think my Tom Thumb has a Western Union branch. But, yes, laziness is the best option. And a face-to-face cash transaction is the best way to go... if at all possible. PayPal also makes me nervous for some reason, even though I've never been burned.

Greg Bolton: Yeah, well, at least your name isn't Greg Bolton.
Samir: You know, there's nothing wrong with that name.
Greg Bolton: There *was* nothing wrong with it... until I was about twelve years old and that no-talent ass clown became famous and started winning Grammys.
Samir: Hmm... well, why don't you just go by Gregory instead of Greg?
Greg Bolton: No way! Why should I change? He's the one who sucks.

Don't let PayPal show you their "O-Face"

Well it's not PayPal, really. It's the douchebags that scam people through it. If I buy/sell something through PayPal and have even the slightest off feeling about the person I'm dealing with, I just say no - which is why I've never been screwed for more than $20 or so. Obviously there's a risk no matter what though. So there's still a ton of personal responsibility involved (looking at feedback, verifying addresses/phone numbers, etc), which is where I see/read/hear that most people fail.

But like SixAce, I was "forced" to add a checking account, so there are some parts about the system itself that are screwy. And the fact that PP says as long as the seller provides them with a tracking number there is nothing they really can do. No matter what levels of protection you use against that, it's still your word against someone else, and PP sides with the seller on those occasions. Which can be a rather large flaw.
