Thread: Scammer: Greg Ian Bolton [[email protected]]

Default Scammer: Greg Ian Bolton [[email protected]]

I was scammed by someone who responded to a request I made in the forums. I wanted to buy a wheel or wheel set. This individual contacted me via my email, and I was a dumbass and lost $200.
    Here is his information:

No need to give me advice, as it was a lesson well learned. Westen Union actually told me that if you are buying something, and the seller requests a Western Union wire, it is a scam 100% of the time! I rolled the dice, and lost.

    Thanks,
    Jimmy

Bummer, I've never actually used Western union. Paypal sucks but it's the lesser of 2 evils I guess.

+1.. I have always been very happy with Paypal. I especially allow the new coinstar feature that allows me to walk in to my local Brookshires and deposit my spare change into my Paypal account for use in online purchases.

Because if a seller sends you even a penny in a box, you're beat. Was a big thing for awhile (not necessarily a penny in the box). If the seller doesn't send anything at all, then you get your money back fairly easy.

I've been screwed through PayPal both as a seller and a buyer. Luckily was never anything over $20 or so. That said, I still use it without hesitation.

Back your Paypal account with a credit card. If there's a problem, file a dispute with your CC company and let them fight Paypal for you.

Yep also if you buy something and need to get a refund for some reason they will hold your funds and make some interest on it for a few days up to a week before they release it back to you.

No as sure-fire as you think.

Depends on the credit card company, but worked for me when I needed it. Maybe not so much with your "Sunglass Hut Discover" card.

Funny, my Chase Visa didn't do crap for me.

We can go back and forth all day, but the point is that there is a risk involved if you PayPal someone you don't know. I used what I would consider a "real" credit card to fund my PayPal payments (which is actually one of the only reasons I even have a credit card), and they didn't do anything. I've filed disputes through PayPal that were linked to a BoA checking account that I created specifically for online purchases only and have gotten more protection. Clearly your experience is different than the few of mine, but I fail to see how that makes mine any less real.

^Agreed there is always risk involved when the seller is a stranger. On Ebay, you have feedback to look at. On a random forum, it's a crap shoot.

The RX-8 forum has a seller/buyer feedback area that is semi-helpful. I bought some sway bars from a stranger, but he had been on that forum for years, and several hundred posts on said forum.

This is all Obama's fault. Or Romney's. just who is this "pal" behind paypal???? No pal of mine, friggin communist-occupying-treehugger-rightwing- liberals!!

Samir: No one in this country can ever pronounce my name right. It's not that hard: Na-ghee-na-na-jar. Nagheenanajar.
Greg Bolton: Yeah, well, at least your name isn't Greg Bolton.
Samir: You know, there's nothing wrong with that name.
Greg Bolton: There *was* nothing wrong with it... until I was about twelve years old and that no-talent ass clown became famous and started winning Grammys.
Samir: Hmm... well, why don't you just go by Gregory instead of Greg?
Greg Bolton: No way! Why should I change? He's the one who sucks.

I had a cc with them that I used exclusivley for that sole purpose. After I spent 10k, I was informed that I had reached the limit? They informed me that I "had" to link it a bank account. Such bs. I went and opened a second checking account just for that purpose. My paypal account still tries to default to the checking instead of my primairy choice cc (for points back).

They just want to avoid paying cc fees and instead hit a checking acct..

The one time I had an issue with an item not showing, I tried to use their "customer service/help". What a joke, and I challenge anyone to try and get someone on the phone. Last I looked, there is no number on their site. Luckily, the deal went through as it was a shipping mistake (paypal used an old address that I had deleted from my acct years before (wtf?)).

Alas, sometime it must be used. But they suck IMO.

Is that really a good gauge??

Most people on this Forum have been around here for years and posted thousands of times!
