That sounds kind of interesting. I had fun out there at the Toy Run, but my only concern would be tires as I'm waiting for the Michelin PS2's to come out for my car. I'll sit on the fence for a bit on this one.
I'm thinking about signing up for an Open Track day at Eagles Canyon Raceway on May 12, 2012. I attend the 2-Day Driver's Education event with the Maverick PCA group (they put on awesome events), but the problem is... they are 2 day events. It's tough to give up both Saturday and Sunday with a family at home that (believe it or not) may want to see me sometime. While I don't like ECR as much as MSR -- I can't understand why the track surface on this newer facility is so bad compared to MSR -- it's still a lot of fun (particularly the miniature version of "the corkscrew" -- corners 7 and 8), and being a one-day event is also appealing.
It's $150 if you pre-register, $185 at the track. Here's a link to the May calendar: http://www.eaglescanyon.com/2008/schedule.php?event=1107&yr=2012&mon=05. Click on "Trackday" for more information on tech forms, clothing requirements, classes, etc...
Any interest?

That's the day after my last exam for this semester - very tempting if the budget is there when it comes up. Is there any kind of DE or previous track time requirement?
very interested

They host an open day each month if you are interested.
M3 is always the answer.
I think ken o is a member of ECR, so he'll know a lot more than I do, but it looks like you don't need to have had previous experience. In fact, from the tone of David Cook's message on the webpage that introduces these Track Days (http://www.eaglescanyon.com/2008/ecrtd.php), it looks like they are designed in large part to get new folks out there.

Assuming my new "miata" is in my possession on Tuesday as scheduled, I should be at the open day this month. I'll be sure to join you in May, too, since I haven't seen you since we were at some German restaurant in east Texas...
