Thread: Hard top rear deck fastening

Default Hard top rear deck fastening

I have an aftermarket non oem hardtop. I have the frankenstein bolts installed already. My issue is that I can not use the frankenstein bolts to fasten down the hard top. The piece of the hard top that goes through the bolt is far too large for the cover which comes from finishlineperformance. What do y'all suggest?

Get the correct fasteners for that top. The frankenstein bolts don't bolt the top down....the rear ears of the 'regular' hardtop just slip over them.

I'm currently using the side latches, I am not fully comfortable with the lift I get when driving at highway speeds. I also notice a lot of air coming from the back of the top.

    The picture helps!

Here is what the OEM rear setup looks like under the cover.

I don't think my hardtop ears will fit in that cover. :/

Pull the frankenstien bolt and get a bolt with a washer that would hold it down.

Google is your pal look what I found.

I had thought of that. My frankenstein bolt is not really a bolt but a frankenstein nut.

Well then get a nut and a fender washer. Plus I'd put some sort of pad on the underside so the top doesn't chew the shit out of your paint.

What POS said..... Also that frankenstein bolt is probably installed with lock tite, they can be a bear to break loose.

I vote you cut off the ears and use the racecar hard-mount bolt on thingies from Rennmetal.

The hardtop is a chaser aero piece.

Just get spec mounts for the inside side mounts and the take out the bolts in the rear.
