Default FS/gauging interest: 1982 yamaha seca xs400 w/ parts bike.

    $500 obo.

Full disclosure, both of these bikes are in project bike shape.

The black bike I was given a few years ago from a family member. I never got it to start, and it has electrical gremlens. I found an identical running bike on Craigslist. I was going to use the black bike as a parts bike. The plastic bits are in ok shape, not perfect, and there's junk in the tank, like a rubber tank liner that fell apart. Don't know how to strip it out. The guy I got it from said he replaced the clutch recently, but the engine puked oil out of the carbs and he stopped riding it fearing he blew the engine. Later he said it might be ok...no idea here.

The ugly grey bike: The guy didn't have the title, but was priced accordingly, and in not the smartest decision i've ever made I bought it. The title is clean, no stolen reports and no liens, but it wasn't in the guy's name either. I was planing on getting a bonded title when I got it in riding condition, but I had a kid and made another kid during the last couple years. I don't think a bike is in my future for a while.

It runs and is in otherwise decent mechanical shape. My buddy and I rode it around the block a few times, felt pretty sound until the front caliper sprung a leak. The engine felt strong and shifted fine. It needs starting ether to start, and the battery is dead dead. Probably the carbs are gunked up.

All the plastic and cosmetic parts are busted and spray painted, the headlight is duck taped, but works. The tach is busted, just spins in a circle, but I bought a round headlight assembly and tach/speedo tree from a better styled Maxim of the same year. I was planning on swapping them. This bike also has a bad front brake, so I was in the middle of swapping the brake over from the parts bike when I shelved the idea. I can easily finish this task if someone was interested in them. The ignition was busted on it as well(I know I know another red flag, but the title is clean). I was also going to swap the working ignition over from the parts bike as well, I have the key for it.

The non running parts bike, I don't have the title either, but I got it from a family member so i'm trying to track it down.
Both were ridden as far as I know maybe 5 years ago.

Considering the PITA factor, these should still be worth around $500 for both of them. Let me know if there is any interest in them, or anyone wants to make an offer in their current condition. If no interest i'll finish making one of them somewhat complete and throw them up on craigslist in the spring. Any pointers as to the best way to sell these are welcome, as well as any offers.

The Miata no longer needs to be a daily driver so i'd like to make room for it in the garage, so these bikes have got to go, i'm tired of tripping over them. Any reasonable offers i'd probably take.

Bought a third car to haul the expanding family. The miata is converted to a weekend toy and the primary target of hobby cash(when I have some).

The third car is so uninteresting it needs no mention. Well...it's a minivan. Ok I said it...I own a minivan. I'm so ashamed.

I tried to think of a witty comeback, but I got nothin...

Hey, it was half of my budget, I can haul the family and I still don't have a car payment. I know, boring me, always thinking economically... If it helps my wife told me I could put a supercharger on the Miata, in exchange for letting her buy this.

    The 'minivan', OZ, hahaha.

I've wanted a bike to putter around on for years, and would have been tempted had the wife not heard me go "oohhh" and look over. She said no before I even asked......

If you can get a title for one of them I might be interested. Have your family member go to the title office and they can print up a new title on the spot for $6.
