I doubt Armstrong likes it as much.

Dislike. That looked worst on Sunday. The car is running good though. No damage that I can hear. I'm still cleaning it and smell oil and engine degreaser every time I drive it now.

That is good to hear. Did you track how much oil you had to fill back in to know how much you lost?

5 qts. My car takes 5.25 qts with an oil change.

Do AP2's have a larger oil pan? I think mine was exactly 5 QTs with a filter change and it was all the way at the top of the dipstick.

If you lost 5 quarts with no internal engine damage then count yourself very lucky indeed. Mine still had 3 quarts in the pan when we tore it down, and it needed a bottom end rebuild.

    To Armstrong and Iain

Which oil did each of you run?

I have heard of a few cars running Motul with almost no oil and still being ok.

Probably engine speed and heat was the difference between the two.
    M3 is always the answer.

Anyone know about the fire / smoke alarm caused by the guy charging his battery in the hotel room?

No names are required. Lets just call him Sparky!

Engine doesn't smoke or make noise. I was running Mobil 1 at the time. I'm going to drive it the next few days and see if anything shows up. Davidss told me to check a few things to see if there are any possible issues. A big thanks to him for taking out the time to help me out.

Let's just say being on the cover of Sportscar may carry the same curse as being on the cover of SI. Chris has a really bad weekend..... Nuff said.

Props for actually helping us clean up the mess. Not often you see that with an oil down. Of course I would not want to have a face off with Ms. Brown either.

I think you might have set a record for the most stink-eyes at one event, too.

It was close, but I'm pretty sure that record belongs to a couple of other guys on this forum from a different event. Runs were lost, torches were lit, pitchforks were sharpened. This was just a minor delay. But it will be forever remembered via video.

So, who is doing the results tabulation? The PCA?

I don't recall any runs getting lost when I blew an oil filter at LaGrave but the course was shut down for a couple of hours. There were only a few pitchforks and torches.

LOL - I'd forgotten about that completely.... (see revs, there's hope)

I was referring to the time in Nashville when............ wait a minute. Umm... Yeah - I was talking about Andy at LaGrave. Yup. For sure. That's what I meant.
