Hey guys, just wanted to make a quick introduction. Currently searching for a Miata after having spent some time behind the wheel of one at TMS a week ago. To say the least, I was blown away at the fun factor behind the wheel of these little roadsters. I immediately dropped in on the pros at Vorshlag and picked their brains, and they confirmed... you can't go wrong with a Miata.
Looking forward to being a part of the forum -

Welcome, good luck with your search.
On the track, I am fearless.
If you were as slow as me, you wouldn't be afraid either.

So I picked up my first Miata on Sunday. Found a silver, one-owner 52,000 mile hard top car that I couldn't pass up. Owned by a little old lady in Austin, all original - no mods - garaged its entire life, so it's a perfect virgin specimen to build from. Now onto a quick detail, then wheels, suspension, roll bar, etc. Still learning about these little roadsters so any advice you guys have is greatly appreciated. Time for me to start my homework.
What year car is it? (and need pics)
forgot that little detail, it's a '92 - so the mileage was low for a 20 yr old car. I only have this one crappy mobile phone pic of it tucked away in the garage, I'll post more once I get it out in the sun and scrubbed down (the sweet old lady wasn't much for detailing her Miata).

Very nice...congrats.
Don't see many silver ones. I look forward to more pics. Bring it out to PROPWASH.
Cool! Very nice! I was completely expecting a 99'.

I mainly meant that there were a lot more 99' 00' silver ones, that 90-92. Nice find, can't wait to see what you do with it.

Nice. NA's are great cars. You should have a great car to build on.

Here are a few more pics guys. I'm labeling these the "before pics"There's a few scuffs and door dings, by no mean perfect, but a good place to start. I've got a double diagonal Hard Dog roll bar on order so that'll be the next step. Then onto wheels/tires/suspension - still doing a little homework in those departments, but the Miata guys I've met so far have been a great help, especially Jason!
The only "mods" so far are a new shifter boot, knob and I'm in the middle of swapping out the head unit (waiting for my single DIN/3 gauge bezel to be delivered from DDMWorks).
I'll get some interior pics once the sun dies down a little.
Looks great...very clean!
Just slotted a DDM single DIN 3 gauge bracket in place of the factory piece. Threw in some old-school Autometers I had shelved for a few years (now if I could only find those pesky sending units (might be a good excuse to go gauge shopping)).
BestBuy.com was blowing out that Alpine CDE-100 for $57 last week so I couldn't pass it up.

The yellow HID kits are good for fog lights as they yellow light penetrates fog better. all other colors are good for headlights. It is a questions of personal taste. The most popular colors are 6000K and 8000K (blueish white).

Just threw on a steering wheel I had laying around from a previous project. It's not a Nardi, Momo, or Sparco, but it'll do for now.

Here's a couple quick progress pics after the Tein Advance install, ARP wheel studs, and a set of TR Motorsports C1's. You might be able to catch a glimpse of the double diagonal rollbar I bolted up last weekend as well. Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics, I'll do a proper photoshoot once I get the ride height dialed in and chin spoiler on.
