Thread: Cleaning K&N Filters

    Default Cleaning K&N Filters

I've been blowing off my K&N filer with an air hose, but apparently that isn't doing the job. After a hundred miles, my MAF throws an error and I then need to clean it.

    Here are the "official" instructions:
    http://www.knfilters.com/cleaning.htm

Basically telling me I need to purchase:
    K&N Air Filter Cleaner
    Squeeze Oil (99-5050)
    Aerosol Oil (99-5000)

    Any TCB alternatives out there?

Do you use a cone filter, or a drop-in? If it is a cone, you can get a water sock to put over it, which will keep debris from clogging the folds. The TCB version is panty hose.

I have some of the filter cleaner you are welcome to use. It helps get rid of oils and gunk. Personally, I prefer dry filters.

Nope, it's a cone filter. Don't think Fram does those.

I was looking for "Use Sewing Machine Oil" or something that would be equivalent w/o the K&N marketing uptick.

I use Dawn and a scrubber to clean it, then spray the K&N oil.
