Thread: New Suspension on my 96

Default New Suspension on my 96

After driving on 16 year old oem shocks with no bumpstops for the last month and a half, I finally upgraded to new ones.

A board member here sold me his 4-05 masdaspeed HDs, NB tophats, H&R springs for $250. I had to jury rig the bumpstops on the rear using gen 7 civic bumpstops, as per miata.net, but to my inexperienced self, they seem to be working.

The handling is night and day. It went from feeling like a mini buick to a skateboard. It turns tight with very little body roll. Comfort is gone however. Its very stiff.

Also, the car is now sitting at 12 rear, 12.25 front.

Im happy, it definitely improved handling. What can I do about the ride height though?

Sounds like your springs have already helped lower it, I think mine was over 13" with the stock MSM shocks/springs. We took my shocks and cut new grooves for the clip that the spring perch rests on. Just gotta find someone with a lathe and the ability to properly operate it, you definitely don't want to cut too deep.
