Registration is closed. On Thursday, they hit the 220 driver cap. I registered last Sunday with the ZX2 S/R.

Looking at the entry list, I thought I might not be the slowest car at the end of the mile. One of the entries is a 1989 Honda CRX, maybe I’ll be faster. Nope, it’s the OneLap CRX, 2.4L Acura motor and I know that Andy will be looking ahead. Maybe the 1989 Ford Ranger. Nope, 501+ cubic inch motor. Maybe the 1970 VW Karmann-Ghia. Nope, it’s a Land Speed Record car. Maybe the Dodge Ram 1500. Nope, it’s an SRT10. Maybe one of the three F150 Fords. Nope, they are all Lightings.

You get the idea. Looks like another fun DFL for me. Wait, there’s a 2000 VW New Beatle. Alright, it’s a diesel….. a turbocharged, nitrous and methanol injected diesel. Maybe?

You should bring a cane and look all wobbly when you get into the car. Put on a show.

Are you sure you can't out run a Miata?

Do you have to work a corner at this event also?

Yeah, general, I think I can out run a Miata, well a 1.6 anyway. But, I didn't see any Miatas on the entry list.

So far, I think I will only have to work the corner at the four furlong post. Actually, the course designer only used a ruler to lay out the course. I don't think they will even bother chalking the course.

I'm all checked in, through tech and the drivers meeting. The grid opens at 0630 and the course opens at 0800.

I'm posting the course map below.

Slowed down a little on the third run, 123.x.

The Ford GT that ran 255 last year ran a 263.8 today. There is a lot of really cool cars here, and some really nice people. There are 3 Ford GT's, but so far, no GT-R's.

Only down side so far is the loooooong wait between runs. The track did not open until almost 1000 this morning because of the rain last night. They still took an hour off for lunch, well almost an hour and a half. But, cars were still running when we left at 1730.

Tomorrow is the most crowded day, I'm told. I hope to get another three runs tomorrow.

Two runs this morning, 121.3 and 121.8.

Andy Hollis got only one run, a 156 in his One Lap CRX.

    We are down for lunch.

My only run this afternoon was a 121.8. There was a motorcycle crash and the event was on hold for over an hour.

Andy got in two runs this afternoon, 163.8 and 162.x.

The fast Camaro from last year ran a 263.x this afternoon, I don't remember the tenth. And the 263 mph Ford GT went ka-blamo this morning.

My car event made The Official Texas Mile Facebook page.

I got in six runs today. I just kept running until they made me to go home. All were slower that Friday's best run. 120.0 to 121.9 mph.

There was so much shut down area that several times I kept going after the mile marker. I got very close to the fuel cut in fourth gear, but not quite there. I do know now the the car will do 124.6 mph in fourth gear. Maybe some day I'll go to a longer course (Bonneville?) and see if I can break 125 mph.

MaxQ says I was doing ET's of about 42 seconds for the standing start mile. My 5 Hz GPS is just to slow for the speed.

I am planning to return to the Texas Mile in the future, maybe not next March, but as soon as I can.
