Lying kid will do that
Kid tells me when I get home that her 2002 NB wouldn't start.
She said the Radio worked so she shut it off. She said there wasn't even a click noise??? Yes she does know about the clutch safety switch she has been driving the car for about 8 months.
She got ticked off that her parents provided her with such aso she went back into school chatted with some friends for about a half hour then went back to the car so she could call me. She figured she would give it one more try and it started with no problems?????
I have started about 100 times since I got home and it doesn't miss a beat. Voltage with the car off is at 12.6 Volts running it is at 14.5 volts. With everything in the car running I still get right at 14.5 volts. The battery is a correct AGM replacement that has been in it for about a year.
Got my 2 amp charger on it now. Got some tinfoil for the key since I read here that that could help. Plan to try that in a minute.
Any thoughts on why it wanted to be a dead fish earlier today??

I hear that OZMDD is bored... I bet he talked your kid into getting you all worked up over nothing just for the entertainment value.
Beer makes teenagers do stoopid stuff.
I highly doubt she would want to play games with me since I will pull the car out from under her faster than she could say "but dad I....."
that's why I removed my clutch safety switch... it got flakey. No idea how you could test for that, though... mine was obvious as it was failing more than 1/2 the time.

Attention assorted douche-bags!
The kid and I spent some time in the garage trying to figure out why the car didn't want to start.
What we found was the drivers side door switch had failed so the factory alarm was still set when she tried to start the car. The starter interlock was active that is why she didn't here any clicks when she tried to start the car.
If the alarm was still set why didn't it go off when she opened the door?
M3 is always the answer.
Sweet!

Need a door switch? If it's the same as on a 96, you can have it.
