Nice. That photo is one of the ones I downloaded for backgrounds on my computer, lol. It switches to another photo of a Miata on the track every 15 minutes. So you're in the rotation. :)
That's a nice looking car. Who did the stripe for you? Also, from that angle, it looks like your rear wheels are larger diameter than the front ones. Is that just the perspective of the camera or are they really bigger?

P.S. This is me in the red miata behind you in the foreground.

I bought the car already built last summer, im not sure who painted it. the wheels are 15x9 with 225/45-15 toyo r888 all around. it's just the camera angle that makes them look bigger. You were in the brand new miata with paper tags right? Nice car.
I toasted my brake pads that last session, what pads would you guys recommend for a dedicated not street driven track car on r-comps? i am not happy with how long the hawk blues lasted, though they never faded or overheated. These only have 3 hard track days on them and are toast. i have stock 94m brakes all around with giant cooling ducts and brembo lcf 600+ brake fluid. the car does have abs if that makes a difference. I am willing to give up a bit of performance for longevity. Im also going to need new rotors, these are etched pretty badly, suggestions?
Dashware looks cool. Wish there was a Mac equivalent. Makes my job a lot easier working on these videos if I don't have to bounce back and forth between windows and OSX and deal with all the different video formats.
Here is a video of a Porsche Cayman using Traqmate which looks cool (kinda expensive though):
+1 for Motel fluid.
I run Cobalt pads for track and have been really pleased. Def a track pad, noisy and dusty on the street.

I run Motul 600 and DTC 60s here with no issues. I got about 5 HPDE days on my front pads and 3 open track days. I took them off today and think they may have 2 HPDE or one open day left in them. They're my second set on the front and I will buy again from Gary at Track Dog Racing.
I think my rear pads have a few more days in them. Tat said if i swap to DTC60s, i would assume i would need to replace the rears as well?
I run PFC 01 and Motul 600 in the M3 (3,440lbs). Not sure if they make a Miata pad but the PFC pads work really well. I know most of the Miata drivers run Hawk. I think some will balance a compound with more bite in the rear to help with front wheel locking ups. I talked to a brake specialist and he also recommended doing this for cars with ABS too. It seems most ABS systems go into a panic mode under heavy braking on the track. With first stab of the brakes all calipers grab. But with continued hard braking the rear calipers can actually release and leave the front brakes to do all the stopping.
M3 is always the answer.
my car has abs and it locked a front wheel this weekend, which was very strange. it was an inside unloaded wheel in a corner so it would be the one to lock I guess. According to hawk the dtc 60 is a higher temp, more bite pad than the blues. i guess i would need to replace front and back to give them a shot.
I run the Cobalt XR3/XR5 combo F/R. Here is a great comparison chart at the bottom of the linked page:

Hawk Blues are 15+ year old technology. Brake pads have come a long way since then.
I've never been a big fan of Hawks, even their DTC compounds. I'd recommend Carbotechs - probably XP12 fronts and XP10 rears for a turbo Miata. Vorshlag is a dealer - give Terry a call.
As for fluid, I've run Motul RBF600 in all my track cars for the last decade. Never boiled the brakes, in anything from a stock Miata to a 320 WHP RX-7 on R compounds. Just remember that Motul needs to be changed more regularly than some other fluids - I go 6 months or every other track event, whichever comes first.

My brake set up for the track is Hawk DTC-30 in the front and Hawk HP+ in the rear. I am a Team Cheap Bastard member, so I use Ford HD Dot 3 brake fluid, about 590* dry boiling point and sh*t for wet BP, so I change often. It's inexpensive and available at any Ford Dealer. My TCB fluid has never given me a problem with my stock engined car.
On the track, I am fearless.
If you were as slow as me, you wouldn't be afraid either.

DTC-60s are pretty aggressive and need heat to perform well. If you're driving your Miata to and from the track, DTC 30s might be just fine. They are a bit more "streetable" and don't give up much on the top end, heat-wise.
We ran 20+ hours straight in our Lemons Miata on DTC-30s with zero issues.
