Thread: Who is your TV service provider?

Default Who is your TV service provider?

I have used Comcast, Dish Network and Direct TV. Found out we are eligible for Verizon FIOS and had it installed last night. We have it for TV, Internet and home phone (which we don't need but it was free). So far it seems the Verizon FIOS has a lot more features than any of the others. Almost overwhelming.

I think I can watch missed shows, watch recorded shows on my computer and possibly my iPhone.

Tell me some cool stuff I can do with my Verizon FIOS.

You can do all you have listed. The only thing is not all shows are on the watch list for past episodes. It seems to be the more popular ones.

You can get the app for your phone to change channels, record/delete shows. My son played a trick kn my daughter who was watching tv and he kept changing the channel to 666 which freaked her out.
Also, don't overlook the widgets. You can get uninterupted Pandora, Facebook, Weather, etc.

You can increase storage on your dvr by at least a terabyte by buying a special WD hard drive which plugs in the back of your dvr.

I wish they offered wireless receivers like at&t but I dont think they have them yet.

Also you can get a 15' IR extender off of amazon for your cablebox if you want to hide the box.

+1 for the FiOS iPhone app. I've tried watching shows On Demand, but some won't let you fast forward or rewind, some won't let you pause, and some aren't in HD. Haven't checked out the widgets much yet, but I could use the extra HD storage. Can I go down to the Verizon store and get that or do I have to go through the 800 number?

There's some way to have caller id show up on your tv. We have Fios and don't have much complaints except the price.

The phone app for remote DVR scheduling is great, and the setting for caller ID is on the DVR box. And you can't beat the stupid fast internet.

U Verse, it's ok. A bit overpriced. I think I paid 135 a month for TV/internet after taxes and fees.

We have suddenlink cable, internet, phone out here in the boonies. 15 Mb's, about $120 per month. I use the tablet for a remote and have netflix instead of premium channels. Works well enough...even when it's raining.

My kids have Suddenlink in College Station. They really miss my Verizon Fios. I thought about setting up a slingbox, but I thought the performance would not be that great.
