    Default Whats this pop mean?

During harder than normal acceleration, theres an exhaust pop when shifting from 1st to 2nd and then 2nd to 3rd.

Ive never heard it at any other shift point.

    What does that indicate?

That you have unburned fuel in the catalytic converter. POP! Now its burned.

Yup. Might be running a tad rich. Did it just start happening with the cooler weather change?

Nope, its done it from the day I advanced the timing to 14 degrees. Im about to detune the car a bit for cheaper fuel and better gas mileage.

BTW the car runs incredibly. iI work at a Honda dealership and my 96 runs and drives better than most of the much more recent trade-ins i drive.

Not quite the same as a backfire, and not something worrisome. Most cars do it, but the exhaust system muffles it so you never hear it.
