They will not flunk a car with the ABS light lit.
Airbags also aren't part of the inspection test.

Can anyone point me to the official list of items checked in a Texas State Vehicle Inspection? I'd like to know exact wording on a couple of things but I can't find what I'm looking for on www.dot.state.tx.us
For example, I know off the top of my head they test braking effectiveness, but don't know the actual policy on ABS. If it's present does it have to work? I don't think they actually test it, but I wonder if they'd flunk a car that had the ABS light lit.
Kinda like airbags. If you pull yours and the light's disabled, are you more correct than someone with the bag present but the light on?

EXACTLY what I was looking for. Thanks for the info -- and the quick reply!
No problemo! The BUR lives and dies by those guidelines!Originally Posted by redmenace
I've never been checked for all of that stuff...
Just tail pipe, windshield cracks, parking brake, gas cap, and tires...
Hell, I've gone in with a headlight & tail light out and never got hit for those.
