Thread: Kazespec Engineering Tow Hook

  1. #1

    Default Kazespec Engineering Tow Hook

    info:
1999 NB miata touring with a mazdaspeed front bumper.

Hello everyone I want to start my review by saying I had a customer service and one-on-one dealing with Henry for this item.

I picked out KazeSpec's tow hook b/c it was vertical instead of horizontal, and it is also SCCA legal. It is made of 5/16" steel with a 2" ring. I asked for a none powder coated version becaues I wanted my hook to be blue not red.

    Review
I love they style and look of this tow hook. A quick mock up on the car and the hook lined-up perfectly with the stock mounting points. The finish of the hook was raw steel, with a polished edge (probably from cleaning the edge after it was cut to prevent any burs)

The Tow Hook came sealed in a stick plastic package, with a full set of mounting hardward.

The hardware is a set of 17mm bolts with washers and lock washers.

Here are a few pictures of the Tow Hook right out of the package.

    Install
Very simple, if you have your stock tow hooks on the car, remove the 3 bolts holding it in place and slide it out.
Install the new KazeSpec Tow Hook by sliding it in from the front opeing of the bumper and install the new hardware provided.

Here is a picture of painting my Tow Hook blue

Here is the Tow Hook installed on the car (again this is an NB mazdaspeed front bumper)

Here is a view from strait above the front bumper looking down, so you can see how it is tucked into the bumper.

    Here is the finished result

Proportional sizing. Smaller things make small things look bigger. My bedroom is all doll house furniture.

You reviewed a tow hook? You should tell us how well it pulls the car around.

lol thanks everyone. No I do not trailer the car, it is driven to and from events.
I only plan to use it the hook if the car is unable to drive it self out and to attach a transponder at the track
I did lego ppl b/c they look awesome.

I reviewed a tow hook b/c I thought it was a different design, made with quality and I got a pre-production version so I wanted to share so the manufacture can share this info with potential customers.

The tow hook fits both NA and NB miatas. A rear tow hook is on the way, along with a full aero kit. Kazespec is already manufacturing custom seat rails.

I want to see more pictures of the bolts. Maybe if you turned them over and photograph the other side?

Those "breakaway" mounts are silly. Not gonna work the way he's trying to design them.
