So is the danger of starting lower that you're going to roll the sidewall enough to damage the rims? Or is it that I can damage the tire?

It is easier to take air out quickly.

Good answer. Now, what's the air speed velocity of an unladen swallow?

    African or European?

The problem with low pressure is a sloppy-handling tire. Also, a underinflated tire will overheat more quickly, which isn't typically an issue in January, but will be in July. Rim/tire damage is not going to happen unless you are running flat-tire pressures or hit a pothole. Your tires are going to get scrubbed hard in autox, so expect a shorter lifespan if you autox regularly.

The reason you don't get many answers is that tire pressures are part of the black magic of autox. Every setup, driver, tire/wheel combo, etc. has a different pressure range, so what works for me is next to meaningless for you unless your car is very similar.

Even that's not true...your driving style depends on it as well. Some guys like a quicker turn-in and are willing to give up some overall grip for it.

    i second that motion!

Wish i would have read that when looking for tires but I don't know that it would have changed my choice of the RS-3's but you can never have too much ACCURATE information.
