Default WTB--track wheels/tires for an NC

Looking for a set of lightweight tracks wheels and sticky rubber for an NC. If you know of anyone selling such a set-up, lemme know...

There's a handy link at the top of the page What flavor NC did you get?
Maybe 4 wheels aren't so bad after all... wickett.org

The link brings me to new, pricey options. I prefer the TCB route first....

Even if the bolt pattern was a match, 15" wheels do not fit on an NC. Must be 16" or larger, even with stock brakes.

Not every 16" wheel will even clear the front brakes. You need to check first.

The TCB options for NC include:
    - FD RX7 wheels (16x8, very light and cheap, not many tire size options)
    - TRM C3 from Tire Rack (17x9, cheap, track-proven, better tire selection)

Also, Mark Sipe had some tires and wheels for sale recently.

Then the TRM C3 17x9 at $129/wheel is pretty hard to beat. As for cheap tires, the RS3's are about as low as you'll find these days for a legitimate street/track tire that can handle heat. No idea about track-only options like NT-01's, but I suspect they are more $$.

For you guys that do track (not auto-x) events with your NCs, what wheel and tire size combo are you running? I assume most wheels are 17x9", but what about offsets? Is fender rolling required with a 17X9"? Tires--245/40s?

    TIA.

I loved the NT-01 on my '94, so it's definitely in the consideration mix.

Several folks run 17x8's. You need at least +45 or more to run 17x9 safely.

Fender rolling depends on ride height. Stock (4x4) springs won't rub on much of anything until you track it. The pointy board has a million threads about this, but the consensus is that you can go as wide as 235/40-17 without fender rolling on a mildly lowered car. 245, depends on the car, 255's, must roll at least the fronts, and expect to get a little contact on the inside fender too.

Rolling the NC fenders is easy, as they don't have much to roll, and the tabs can be bent by hand. Oddly, I get more fender liner rubbing on the track than I do at autox, but that all stops once you've worn away those pesky fender liners!

If you want to be safe, or don't want a heavy tire/wheel combo for full-time use, then a 17x8 with 225's or 235's will do 90%+ of what the 17x9/255 combo will get you.

Thanks for the insight. Problem with the pointy board is that there are more opinions than threads.

This second set would be for track (MSR/ECR) use only. I plan to keep the stock wheels for DD duties. I'm leaning toward a 17x9 with either 235 or 245/40s. I don't mind a mild fender roll if needed. Suspension is currently stock but will swap to coilovers as soon as I can decide on what I want to do there.

245 on 17x9 is pretty ideal. Even as low as mine sits, the 245 is a good fit under the fenders on +45's.

My only track day was on 17x10" RPF1s and 255/40 street tires...but I LOVED it.
